Retropie does not like my 8bitdo Arcade Stick!

8BitDo Arcade Stick in XBOX mode https://www.8bitdo.com/arcade-stick/So here's what's going on.
I got the Arcade stick and plugged it in. It recognized it as an Xbox Controller and seemed to work..
Then when I started a game, I noticed major issues.
The system didn't recognize the Start, Select, or LT and RT buttons. So I plugged in my 8BitDo SN30 Pro+ ( https://www.8bitdo.com/sn30-pro-plus/ ) to configure the controller.
During the configuration, it would not accept or even detect the LT and RT buttons on the Arcade Stick, nor would it detect the P1 and P2 buttons. When trying to exit out/close out the controller config, the system crashed to a blue screen of death saying if this is the first time it happened, etc etc, and contact the forums immediately.
Which is why I am here.
(I also have a NeoGeo Arcade stick I was about to test out)

@jiryn I got a Pi 400, and 8Bitdo Arcade Stick fro Christmas and are finding the same problem.
From what I can ascertain:
P1/P2 are programmable buttons, and I think must be programmed using the *bitdo software, prior to connecting to Pi. [https://support.8bitdo.com/ultimate-software.html](link url) -WIndows / Mac only. I am going to try this myself today
As for LT/RT I found the Pi wasn't recognizing those buttons, but they started working after I updated all the drivers. (not 'packages' etc, but drivers). I don't know which one was key but now the LT/RT are working
I also got a crash after the first time, but it has been stable since

Someone had some similar issues and posted a solution for both USB and Bluetooth connection modes:
