Raspberry Pi OS: shortcut for RetroPie does not start games
-
Device: Raspberry Pi 4B
Power supply: original power supply
Guide used: noneIm currently trying to create a shortcut for RetroPie on Raspberry Pi OS.
My thought was to create an entry for the start menu and then putting that entry on the desktop.I started the Main Menu editor and made a new entry in the Games section.
Preferences/Main Menu Editor
I used the following path for the emulationstation script: (emulationstation.sh)
/bin/emulationstation.sh
The shortcut loads the emulationstation interface and with it the installed games but it does not start the games. Instead i get redirected to the game list.
So: am i using the right path, right script etc? I have a feeling he only starts the interface but not the emulators.
Would it even work with this way?

@lilian3004 launching retropie within the desktop is not supported. you should log out and launch via commandline, or boot into retropie directly as per https://retropie.org.uk/docs/FAQ/#where-did-the-desktop-go

@dankcushions oh i see, i thought it would work somehow. Good to know!
Then i have a different question. Is there a Steam Link plugin in the RetroPie distribution?
