If I set "parse XML gamelist only" to "ON" and Reboot Emulationstation I receive this error:
emulationstation: /home/pi/RetroPie-Setup/tmp/build/emulationstation/es-app/src/FileData.cpp: void FileData::addChild(FileData*): Assertion 'nType == FOLDER' failed.

You have a faulty
gamelist.xml
that you copied from somewhere. How did you install your system ? -

I started from a clean installation and little by little I added the roms, then I had a folder that I didn't want to show the subfolders present and I activated that option. BOOM! My gamelists made no mistake, otherwise I would have noticed the wrong names. Is there a way to figure out which of the gamelists is faulty?

Run with the
--debug
flag from the terminalemulationstation --debug
and see where it stops.

emulationstation --debug
Thanks! I found the error, but I think I will put that option back to "OFF" anyway because I noticed that now the lists have doubled some roms.

@shift Would you mind sharing how you eventually fixed this? I'm experiencing this issue currently and I can't seem to figure out what's wrong.

@mrmadcatz Please open a separate topic instead of bumping an old one, and add the info requested in https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first.

@mitu Can do! New to the forums and still figuring out preferred practices. Thank you!
