Streets of Rage Remake 5.2 - add to Ports ?
-
@ExarKunIv thanks. If you could let me know when you've fixed it and what to type in to update it
-
@hawkes_84
Alright it is updatedif you installed the whole RetroPie-Extras you can update it with
cd ~ cd RetroPie-Extra/ git pull origin ./install-extras.sh
if you installed just that one script. then you have to remove it and use the same command you did to install it
-
@ExarKunIv Wow I must of completely forgot I installed XORG a long time ago but that explains it.
-
@ExarKunIv Many thanks. Some progress! it's worked but...it's tiny in the top left corner of my screen! I thought your script tackled this issue? Is there more to update somewhere? thanks
-
@hawkes_84
sorry but no, that is something only you can change, you have to press a when the gray window comes up when you first start the game, and then change the resolution and also in the options in the game is self has a few things you can changedo make sure that in the
system.txt
this line looks like this
// FULL SCREEN WIDE: AUTO, DESKTOP, BORDERLESS, BORDERLESS_SYNC AUTO

i know, i miss that all the time since once its installed its there and will work.
-
@ExarKunIv many thanks. I've tried all the resolutions from the grey box options and its doesnt seem to want to make the screen bigger. The game options enlarged the picture a bit but still far too small for the screen and yes the system txt document is identical to what you have put. No worries. I'll have a tinker with it and see what can be done. Many thanks
-
@ExarKunIv I managed to get the screen to a good size after much trial and error however there's a large black border to the right of the screen I cant seem to shift. I assume this is as good as I'm going to get it?
-
@hawkes_84
i did manage to get it to fit fullscreen on my monitor im using, but i can see how that might not be the case for everyone since we all use different screens. -
@ExarKunIv it's pretty sweet to have on pi4 anyway so thanks for sorting this
-
@hawkes_84 I am using the PI 4 so I have it on wide screen full screen in the options but when I run SORR and press "A" I configure the video mode to run 800X600. Changing this type of resolution will only work in widescreen mode.
-
@Refazeshot1 Thanks, i'll give this a try
-
@Refazeshot1 tried this setting and it's still very small when I go to wide screen mode. Doesn't even come close. Thanks anyway tho!
-
@hawkes_84 Anytime!! I just wish you could get it in full screen. Could be your monitor maybe? Hard to say as I only tested in the one Tv for me.
-
@Refazeshot1 I pretty much did it with only a half inch black border to the right of the picture which Is pretty good going but the human brain craves symmetry :) so would prefer a border on both sides or none. Still it's good going. Maybe I'll mess with options in the system.txt doc to see if I get better results
-
@hawkes_84 yeah you have to mess around with both the run command settings for the resolution and the settings in the game itself.
once i get to reinstalling SORR again. ill post what my settings are on my system
-
@ExarKunIv I've tried all the run command settings and got it near perfect except for the right corner there a bit of a black border. Ideally I'd have the old style 640x480 settings with two black borders on each side like the old megadrive resolution but am not able. Every time I choose that option its way too small. I tried messing with the system.txt doc to see if that would help but it said I don't have the permissions. Ah well! weird how it's perfect for the Pi3 but not the 4 :)
-
@hawkes_84 yes you will not be able to edit the system.txt file. i made it that way so it would not be overwrote when the use copys the files over. since that fine has a different setting for the video mode.
i was doing my best to have it so it will work and look the best out of the box, you know.
for you to get rights for the file again, run
sudo chown -R pi:pi /home/pi/RetroPie/roms/ports/sorr/mod/system.txt
then
sudo chmod 755 /home/pi/RetroPie/roms/ports/sorr/mod/system.txt
(im sure there is a different command to do both, but i dont know it. and this works)
to get the ability to edit the file.
from there you can change the video settings and see if you can get it to be better -
@ExarKunIv cheers fella! you've really gone above and beyond for me on this and I appreciate it loads. Will have a look at this shortly
-
@ExarKunIv sorry about mixing posts but I just saw on your suggestions for ports #2 post that Doom 3 is a port for the Pi? Is this Doom 3 that came out on original Xbox - surely not? anyway I installed the script and installed it from experimental packages and when I went to play it just went to black screen. I tried it on my pi4 if that makes a difference. I'm guessing I need to transfer some files across to the Doom 3 folder but unsure which? After SORR port I've got a taste for them :)
