Black screen only in GBA Games
-
System Specs:
Name: NUC Axxiv
CPU: IntelCore i5-7300u 2.60GHz
GPU: IntelCorporations HD Graphics 620 (rev 02)
RAM: 8 Gig
Memory: 128 Gig
OS: Ubuntu 18.04.6 LTS
Retropie: 4.8.5
Game-Controller: PS4 Controller
GBA Emulators:
- Default: lr-mgba
- lr-vba-next
Problem:
When i play a Gameboy Advance Game after some amount of time the game View and Sound disappeare and the game freezes.
Observations:-
Intrestingly when clicking the PS4Controller buttons the game doesn't react, but when clicking the Ps4 touch panel the game runs again and it plays normally.
-
This problem just happens to Gameboy Advance games.
Played in other "emulation environments" like the N64 and the Snes and they don't share the Problem. -
Both of the GBA Emulators have been used and in both happens the same problem.
-
Played different gba ROMS and all share the same problem.
Tried:
- In the Main Menu of RetroPie under UI Settings/Screensaver Settings/ is everything set to 0m and off.
- In RetroArch under Settings/User Interface/
Mouse Support: and Touch Support: is set to off. Also Menu Screensaver Timeout: is set to off.
Questions:
-
Did i miss something with the Settings ?
-
Why does this just happen to the gba Games?
-
Is it something within the OS, but why are only the gba emulators affected?
-
Do i need a script to solve the Problem?
-
This looks like the focus is lost while the game is playing, though it's strange that happens only for GBA games. Do you have a system override where the RetroArch settings are different for the
gba
system ?
Btw, Ubuntu 18.04 is pretty much out of support (from Ubuntu) so you may want to upgrade to the latest LTS if you wish to be able to get updates for your system. -
Thanks for your fast response :) !
Reaction:
- Updated the OS to Ubuntu 22.04.3 LTS and also Retropie 4.8.5
- 'Game Focus' is set to off in both general Retroarch Settings and GBA
Problem:
Still facing the same Problem:
Screen goes black and game stops unless i click Ps4 touch panel.
Question:
Any idea why this may happen? -
Let me repeat my previous question - do you have a system override where the RetroArch settings are different for the
gba
system ? Is yourgba
system's configuration file custom/different from the default that RetroPie installs ?Post the config file (
/opt/retropie/configs/gba/retroarch.cfg
) on pastebin.com. If you can, get a verbose log from RetroArch during this occurence and post it also on pastebin.com
