      Hi Guys
      I just bought a new 4k TV and retropie on raspberry pi4 has become enormously slow and laggy.
      I found several alternative solutions on the net and they all work quite well but I can't figure out which effetticavely is the best.

      1. Completely ignoring the TV's information regarding the resolution
        Adding a line in /boot/config.txt at the end
      hdmi_ignore_edid=0xa5000080

      1. Force a 1280x720 (720p) resolution adding
      hdmi_group=2
      hdmi_mode=16
      [hdmi:0]
      hdmi_max_pixel_freq=200000000
      [hdmi:1]
      hdmi_max_pixel_freq=200000000

      1. Force a 1920x1080 (1080p) resolution adding
      hdmi_group=2
      hdmi_mode=82
      [hdmi:0]
      hdmi_max_pixel_freq=200000000
      [hdmi:1]
      hdmi_max_pixel_freq=200000000

      Now I think in terms of general performance the FIRST is definitely better from what I've read and what I've been able to understand.
      Do you confirm that this is indeed the case?
      Thank you very much

        Yes, 4K resolution can create performance issues. Use at least 1080p .

          @sugarfree dont you think is even better to NOT change the resolution and using the command

          hdmi_ignore_edid=0xa5000080

          ?

            I suggest following the RetroPie wiki instructions on 4K resolution performance issues: https://retropie.org.uk/docs/Pi4/?h=4k#4k-video-display
