@ExarKunIv I am totally unaware of the existence of RetroPie-Extra. Now I try to install it.
      Thanks

Hello, I think I'm doing something wrong ...
I installed the RetroPie-Extra, and, after launching it, I found in the emulators section the openbor-v5.sh, which I installed. The script was created, in fact when I launch the retropie_setup.sh, I find the entry in the "experimental package" section - "Retropie-Extra. Only that if I select it, there is no entry for installation, but only "Package help".
        Where am I going wrong?
        Thanks for the help.

@Lukesv sorry that you came across this. i do try and not have errors with the scripts.
just tested it on my Pi5

it is now fixed. you just need to run./install-extras.sh so you can remove the old script and run the update option and then select the script again

then find it in the main retropie_setup menu again

Hi, i have Pi5, and installed OpenBor Pi5 edition.
How do I get OpenBor to work?

The OpenBor section in the ES menu and under Ports doesn't show the OpenBor Pi5.

              What should I do first?

I wanna really work OpenBor game on Pi5...スクリーンショット 2025-04-06 013839.png

I'm sorry, but I don't use EmulationStation — I use Attract Mode. From what I understand, your issue is that you don't see OpenBOR listed among the available emulators, right?

I can't exactly help you, I just know that with openbor, there are games that will only work with certain versions of openbor. I had this problem with tmnt retropalooza. It was built on an old version (I think), which isn't supported without a convoluted process. I'd imagine there is a list of games somewhere that should work with it. I'll be right back.

I will take a look tomorrow. It was working fine for me. So I will verify it if fix if needed. Or if anything I can tell you what might be the reason why you are not seeing anything

Also this will make a new system for you to pick your games from. It will not be under ports

@retro777 so i just installed that and it works with my .pak files fine.
Im running the latest version of the script and that makes it a standalone system

there should not be any openbor folder in the ports folder if you are using the same one
the openbor folder is in the main roms dir and you only need the .pak file

I also found the same game and it works just fine.

so look for the openbor folder in the main roms dir and put only the .pak files in there
you will have to restart emulation station for it to be seen.

                              @retro777 roms/openbor/(.pak files)

thats it. not saying that you might come across a game that will need something else but you dont need to do anything to the .pak files.

if they come in a .zip file or any other form of compression. just get the.pak file out of there

you have pi5 and runnning on emulation station?(Retropie)?

                                  my emulator.cfg is here
                                  openbor-v5 = "/opt/retropie/emulators/openbor-v5/OpenBOR %ROM%"

my .pak file now to /rom/ports/openbor

When I select a game, the screen goes dark for a moment and then returns to the original EmulationStation screen.

                                  this is my pics.
                                  any ideas?!

yes since the openbor-v5 will only work on the Pi5. i have it written that way

                                    so a few questions.
1 what did you follow when you built your system. (instrustions)?

2 do you have a desktop

3 do you have the kernel=kernel8.img in the config.txt?

4 can you post the runcommand output. look for it here after you try running a game
/dev/shm/runcommand it will help me see whats going on

since there is no offical image yet. i have to see what you are running
i use the unoffical image from here or used to be there. the links are not working at this time

hmm for me to really say i need the runcommand.txt. but there is a chance that you having a desktop even though its not running is the problem

                                          dear @ExarKunIv

after openbor runnning on emulation station..

                                          pi@retropie5:/dev/shm $ sudo nano runcommand.log

                                          but not shown (empty files)

                                          /dev/shm
                                          -ls
                                          runcommand.log
                                          only

                                          でも、デスクトップが起動していないのにデスクトップが表示されていることが問題なのかもしれません。

                                          no, my situation is...
x-window only runnning when i xstart command.
                                          default is only emulationstation.

@retro777 im going to agree with that. i think since you have desktop even if not enabled. it does not play nice with that system.
i never make or test any of the scripts with desktop since any of the official images of retropie don't have it. and then they say something might not work correctly if retropie is installed over a desktop
