I quite like it! Looks like quite a powerful portable device that will have some great games for it as well as support lots of multiplayer options.

Please read the Docs before asking a new question.

I think it looks really great. It appears that the screen/tablet portion is where everything is happening and that when you use it at home it's just a docking station to charge and connect to a TV. The "small" controllers that detach for on the go multiplayer are fantastic. I'll be curious to hear about battery life and pricing. I skipped the Wii U, but I may have to look at getting one of these.

Cool piece of hardware that I could see myself using on my commute, but I'm just not into Nintendo games so I won't get it.

I think I might actually get it. I haven't been too fond of the 3DS or the Wii-U... this is like a console/portable combined. Pretty much right down to what everyone wants these days. As long as the hardware isn't a step back from the Wii-U. Going to have a Tegra in it, so the graphics will be good, but I don't know if it will be "this-generation" good. We can hope. And it will be a far cry better playing Nintendo games on the go than the mass steaming piles of Android games currently available. So, count me in. :D

This thing's awesome, although I could have been more excited for the trailer if I was not following the Nintendo Switch (code-name NX) leaks and news. Funny how that Eurogamer leak was pretty much spot on...

I'm not a fan. I prefer the classics. I've always viewed console gaming and mobile gaming as two separate things. If I'm home I allocate a dedicated time to play and get into the plot of a game, if I'm on the go I play games on my smartphone that are more geared toward short intervals with immediate gratification and no extended plots. I also have a feeling that with all the moving parts that may effect the structural integrity over time- the more moving pieces, the more possibilities of breakage.

i don't really think handheld gaming is a 'thing' anymore in this way. the 3ds was massively popular but only after its price was slashed so that (presumably) younger people could afford them. even then it's way behind the previous DS. i think mobile gaming has filled that void for most people by now.

other than that it's just late to the party as a home console. i know the games will be good, but they're too late. i already have a current console and a huge backlog.

all that said, i've heard more friends talking about it than the wii u (i don't know anyone with a wii u!), so they may be on to something!

I like it. We'll see if the games come out to support it, but if there's a good dozen titles worth playing by summer, I'm in.

I wanted to get a Wii U, for a good number of titles on it that I hope will be ported over soon. But with this being right around the bend, I really don't see that being a good purchase, which is sad because it looks like the funnest of the current systems.

Fully agree. And when I can dedicate longer time to gaming at home I do it on PC. You can't play Rome Total War, Company of Heroes or any other serious RTS on a console ;-)

That said technically the Switch looks interesting and I really appreciate Nintendo's efforts to always innovate and differentiate.

I'm disappointed its not going to support 3ds/ds cartridges as i have a fair sized collection.

Really hoping they will port xenoblade chronicles X over, i refuse to buy a wiiU for one game!

nintendo still make games, i think most games are getting to serious and life like which is good , but for me games are about escapism and looking through the mame games over the year we have lost a lot. fps killed a lot of creative ideas ,the companies wont take the gamble. so i hope this pulls of for nintendo they deserve it

For those of you just wanting a committed home console:

Why can't you just DECIDE to use it that way? What's stopping you?

@TonyTheTGR They made concessions on the specs of their platform in order to make it portable whereas a fully dedicated console will have all the specs and then some.

I know that they're saying "Oh, you can use the SAME console and play the SAME games in and out of the home" but it seems to be an awful lot of messing about with docking stations and lose-able clip on controllers etc. to solve a problem that isn't there.

If I want to play games out and about I use my phone, tablet or DS. I have never wanted to take my home console out with me - the style of games are totally different.

Also I really don't understand the advertising. I don't want to be like that first guy, who can't even drag himself away from gaming to walk his poor dog. He's out there ignoring the sunset and his dog engrossed in the little tiny screen. He needs to take a good look at himself, and decide whether he's the sort of person that should really have a dog in the first place, if his console takes priority over it. Maybe I'm old, but that's just not an aspirational image for me.

The next guy practically pulls a hot chick at the airport, because she's interested in his Nintendo Switch. Sorry, that has never, ever, ever happened, and it never, ever, ever will! Believe me, I've been buying cool new tech for 35 years, and not once has a hot chick taken any interest in it whatsoever (apart from tell me I shouldn't have wasted so much money on it!).
Then he settles down for some inflight gaming. Apparently he must use better airlines than me, because I can barely use a DS on a flight, due to the constant flow of inflight meals, snacks, people going to the toilet, hot drinks, cold drinks etc. that mean I have to constantly be moving, passing items across, cleaning up spills, balancing drinks/snacks on the table, etc. etc. etc.

As for those sports guys. Well it doesn't make any sense. They all went to those locations to actually play a sport. Not to play a sports game on a shared Nintendo. They could stay at home and do that. "Hey guys, lets all get into our sports kit, hire a basketball court and then spend the time playing basketball on a console like we could have done sitting in our underpants with a mammoth bag of potato chips in our own bedrooms!", said no-one, ever - the concept is clearly ludicrous, and is never gonna happen.

And next time I'm having a roof party for all my hot female friends, and I invite another one across and she turns up with her console to monopolize the whole thing, well, she'd have to be pretty damn hot to get another invitation, that's all I'm saying.

"Sure come across, bring BOOZE, ON NO ACCOUNTS BRING YOUR CONSOLE" is the sort of thing I'd be saying to her in future. "Seriously love, we WILL NOT LET YOU IN if you bring your console again, it's not that sort of party."

So I think the Nintendo Switch addresses a problem that didn't exist, and their aspirational advertising is so entirely out of touch with reality, I just don't understand who their target market is. Obviously it's not me!
