      Hey guys,

Been testing some arcade ROMs with FinalBurnAlpha (using the latest version of LR-FBALPHA) and I'm noticing a common problem with several SEGA driving games and the controls not working. In GP Riders, Galaxy Force 2, and Hang-On (to name a few) I can use the buttons on my retropad for acceleration, etc, but the directional controls do not steer my vehicle in any of the games. I can only just go straight. I tried Hang-On with MAME2003 (the other two games I listed don't seem to be available for that one) and I could steer but the graphics were all messed up.

I've also tried multiple clones of the games with no luck. Is there some setting I need to mess with in the RetroArch config screen to make steering work in FinalBurn?

      Thanks!

I've never tried these games, but try Mame-2010

@Ikyrus many input issues in fbalpha have been fixed. see https://github.com/libretro/fbalpha/issues/102

please update it from source, retest, and any issues still present please add to that issue, thanks :)

I'm pretty sure those game work with latest commits, but you'll need analog sticks.

I updated via source 2 days ago so I doubt that's the problem. And naturally my super nintendo style retropad has no analog sticks so is there anyway to swap those controls to the d-pad? Mame2003 seems to do this automatically it's just the games don't work on it. I can also try Mame2010 but I haven't had much luck with that one in the past.

Right now, no. And honestly i'm not sure it is worth adding some fallback feature : i fixed the analog controls in fbalpha 2 weeks ago because those games were unplayable with d-pad (cf. https://github.com/libretro/fbalpha/issues/6). So even with a fallback, you won't be able to play those games properly.

yeah during your initial controller configuration in emulationstation (which you can re-do via the emulationstation menu) you can just select your d pad as up/down/left/right on the left analog stick as well as being the regular left/right etc and i think it should work :)

What was the problem with the digital controls? They seems to work fine in MAME from what I've seen. When I tried Hang-On, even though the graphics were all jacked up, the player-sprite was fine and seemed to control properly with the D-Pad. I'm just curious.

Ha! As simple as that is, I didn't even think of that! Thanks!

That means you can't turn at X% with digital control (X being a value between 0 and 100), you either don't turn or turn at 100%, which is not how those games were meant to be played, so the gameplay is degraded.
With analog control, you can turn at whatever % you want.
