    Please vote: http://www.strawpoll.me/11958050

We will check the most voted game on Wednesday. So we have Monday and Tuesday for experimentations.

    What is the MAME ROW?

MAME ROW stands for MAME Random Of the Week. We randomly select an arcade game from the 0.78 MAME ROMset to play on the week. The idea is to play games we've never played before, interact with other forum members, post hi-scores, share game strategies, fun facts, and (the most important) HAVE FUN!

There's no need to use RetroPie to join the MAME ROW! You can play it on any platform you want.

Every Monday we create a topic at the "General Discussion and Gaming" forum section with the 3 random games to be voted. And on Wednesday we check the results.

The current week's game thread is just where there are more people interacting/talking about the game(s). Feel free to post your hi-score (or any content about the game) anytime you want on the previous "rounds" topics (links below).

These "rules" are constantly being improved!

Explaining the randomness of the process

I took the 0.78 compatibility list and applied the following filters (in this order):

    1. Parent: (empty)
    2. Rpi 3 Status: (empty), OK, Untested
    3. Rpi 2 Status: OK, Untested
    4. Rpi 1 Status: Untested
    5. Manufacturer: clear the "bootleg" checkbox

Saved a new spreadsheet with only the results of those filters here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/13Q7QEqV5lUo662nvAC3zS_AvQvsjspEcGHVhaHcyzbI/edit?usp=sharing

And then went to www.random.org and generated a random number between 2 and 2185 (ignoring 1 because of the column headers).

    Links to the previous "rounds"

    • Phoenix (not randomly chosen)
    • New Rally-X (not randomly chosen)
    1. Bosconian
    2. Blue's Journey / Raguy
    3. Lizard Wizard
    4. 4-D Warriors
    5. Raiga - Strato Fighter
    6. Pang!
    7. Air Duel
    8. Pac & Pal
    9. Puyo Puyo 2
    10. Forgotten Worlds
    11. Moon Cresta
    12. Frenzy
    13. Wanted

Mini Golf is frustrating as heck. Maybe you're supposed to have a track ball?

Cop 01 is kind of cool in a plaform/run n gun kind of way.

Aggressors of Dark Kombat is a traditional fighter, but I didn't see any scoring, and I suck at fighting games, so I'm going with Cop 01 for my vote this week.

Unfortunately I won't get a chance to try these out before Wednesday, mini golf looks fun but I guess if the control lets it down then it may not be a good choice.

As I can't actually try these in time, I'll abstain from voting this week. I'll be back in time to play the winner though.

@obsidianspider Yes, Mini Golf is a trackball game (works great!). It can be pretty fun with friends. If you don't have a trackball it's not worth playing at all. I have to unmap the joysticks too, as it is just too easy to bump them.

Yeah I would have picked Mini Golf as I love playing it on my stand-up MAME arcade machine since it has a track ball but since this is a retropie poll I went with A.O.D.C.

I had to try out my Genesis Pi a bit and I'm really enjoying Cop 01. Such a weird name for a game, but it's fun.

33,300 to get the competition going.

(After game over you're taken right to the high score screen and then back into the demo screens, this wasn't taken while I was still playing.)

@meleu Again no cabinet artwork available. And again an original flyer exists but main image is a picture of a girl in bikini.
Very basic (poor) marketing approach ! On top they not even used a nice model :-))
                      0_1482953406508_33001401.jpg
Seriously I don't think of making an overlay with that; does it relate to the game in any way ?
Only usable part would be the game logo but that's not enough to create a decent overlay.

There's another flyer that shows some how to play instructions but it's totally in japanese ....

                      Suggestions ?

@UDb23 We need a photo of @meleu wearing a jet pack like the main character in the game and you can use that ;)

                            @obsidianspider I'm not good with cosplaying :-)

@UDb23 can we suggest a mainstream game? Example: when I receive guests with children at my home they usually like to play The Simpsons. Would you make an overlay for this game?

@meleu said in MAME ROW #14: Cop 01:

they usually like to play The Simpsons.

Most would say that out of the dozens made, this is the only good Simpsons game out there. I would argue that 'The Simpsons: Hit & Run' is also amazing, but they're both great games regardless.
