I made this game but being very busy with work and kids I don't have the time to figure out the software side of things and it has sat unfinished for ages. Configuring the controls with my ipac2 was almost complete but Linux and mame stuff is not in my skillset.
So I'd like someone who knows what they're doing to work on it for me and I'll pay you some cash - Maybe £50 but we can negotiate. The hardware works to my knowledge and so the requirement is to just get the software working.

What do you need help with on the software side?

It was a struggle enough just trying to get Doom to run with enough buttons configured sensibly enough. It needs someone to start from scratch with the OS, basic config and then emulator set up. It would be good if it also just booted straight into the emulator. My real problem is time. I would need a few hours straight to get my head around it to start getting anywhere and I've left it for so long that I've forgotten the basics. I would rather just get someone with fluent experience to knock it out for me and then review their steps and take notes. I would really appreciate it.

@claudio Are you willing to pay for ongoing support when things go wrong? Which they inevitably will. Things will need updated. Will you pay for that too? Why not just wait until you have time to do it yourself? To me, your solution is a cop out. Why not just buy a functioning bartop? I'm not on your case but I'm obviously missing something. RetroPie is a hobbyist's / tinkerer's passtime. Maybe just buy a PS4 Pro?

I'm a people person who is short on time, have budget to spend and would appreciate help pushing it over the line. If the ongoing support became too much for me, I'd just sell the unit for a few quid. If you're still "missing something" let me put it this way: I now have 4 kids with the oldest now 5 years old and I'm a director at a company that I have just started working at. Patience and time is precious and a few quid to help see this machine come to life would be nice. You make a great point about a tinkerer's pastime. I'm an old git but a maker at heart who tends to jump from project to project.

That remark is below the waistline. Its not that people with demanding jobs/lives are prohibited from playing retrogames, not even on the Pi, is it?

If you are not interested in helping him, fine. Ignore this thread and move on.

@claudio : you should specify what exact you want to have done.
What is your HW setup? Are there other peripherals that need to be set up as well?
Besides Doom, what systems games do you expect to be playing?
Do you own all the roms needed for that goal?

I must say, 50GBP will get you tops 2 hours of support from a professional doing this, so scale your wishes accordingly. If there is someone willing to do this for teh lulz, you might get better value for money. (and possibly a role in a botnet to boot! :-) ).

Yeh dude, bit too much. I see where you're coming from, but that's just mean.

@claudio Are none of your kids interested in this? Would be a prime opportunity to pass on the project and get the next generation involved in RetroPie.

I have ipac2 and PI B+ I think (without walking to garage to remind myself). The monitor is plugged in via HDMI and sound via the jack. It has been nearly 2 years since I worked on it. just shaking the tree to see if anyone is close enough and up for it.

@markyh444 Out of the 4 kids my oldest just turned 5 years old. The baby and twin boys in the middle have put the squeeze on my time. I'd quite like for them to play the game (what Daddy made etc...) but If someone helped me get this going either at my house or theirs I can see them inheriting the unit and we'll move onto something else (smaller) with another PI.
