My Transformers Arcade Cabinet
-
So, a while back I decided to build an arcade machine for my kids. It took me about 3 months to build and thought it would be good to share so that other can use this build to generate some ideas for themselves.
I’m pretty happy with the final product and my kids absolutely love it. -

Evert, nice build mate!
Your design caught my attention because you went with a slimmer design which is what mine are like. I love the theme and colors!
I made this image of a coin door that I print out and mount to a piece of hardboard, then mount that to the front of my cabinets (trim to the rounded edge). Just thought I'd pass it along...
Nice work.

@Evert It's a thing of beauty. Also, G'day fellow Aussie.

Curious, do you arcade cabinet builders put some additional weights at the bottom to prevent the thing from tipping over? Or is it heavy and sturdy enough to stand on its own?
-
FT mine are fastened to the wall and are actually more solid than a full size cab. Evert is that free standing? It looks like it would be sturdy enough...

Yes, mine is free standing. I made it out of 18mm MDF so it is very solid and very heavy. It's bottom heavy, so no real risk of it falling over.

@Evert Ever consider putting anything in the base like a mini-fridge or something?
-
@mattrixk Haha, yeah a beer fridge would be great.
I did think about putting a coin door in at one stage and I was going to put more vinyls down the front and on the sides. Ever since it fully operational though, the kids don't want me to turn it off to do more work on it.

Hah, understandable. You'll have to do it once they're in bed. I'm sure all the hammering and sawing won't wake them up at all.

Awesome work
