Are you trying to work me to death ;)
Speaking of SNES mini, did anyone manage to pre-order it? I missed out on the NES classic and don't want to miss out on the SNES mini but I have a feeling it's going to be the same situation again with nintendo under producing (pre-orders sold out pretty much instantly) and scalpers ruining it for everyone.
-
@ruckage your in the U.K. right? theres a "Very" ;) good site that thats taking preorders
-
@Stuart2773
Thanks, I'll check - seems a bit suspicious that they have pre-order stock when no one else does though. -

you know what site im referring too then :) there's quite a few stores here in the U.K. that you would probally would not think of stocking them but they do.
im 50/50 about getting one as i still have my original working PAL SNES & Jap Super Famicom with Magicom Support, and of course the pi, the only thing that tempts me is the "official version of Starfox2" i have the unreleased versions, just curious to see how it compares,
but no doubt once the Snes minis go on sale the rom will be be dumped,
BTW, there are 3 versions of the SNES MINI,

@Stuart2773 I'm kind of jealous at you and @ruckage, you guys in the UK got the better looking SNES. But at least we got Mario RPG when it first released.
-
@Stuart2773
Yeah, it really isn't something I need but I just really want for Nostalgia reasons, it does look really nice. I used to have a SNES which I bought myself as a teenager from money earned at a Saturday job. I also had a box full of games for it. Of all the consoles I've owned it's the one I'm most fond of (and I have most of them). Sadly my SNES and games went missing between house moves several years ago :(@lilbud said in Cardboard Mini NES + Nes mini and Famicom mini themes:

I've never actually played any of the Mario RPG games - I should really try them sometime. I'm not a great fan of most console RPG games though, I find most of them a bit tedious.
You got the short end of the stick with the US SNES design but back in the day we were all jealous in the UK because our SNES may have looked nicer but games played much slower as they only ran at 50fps as opposed to 60fps in the US (same for all UK consoles back then).

@ruckage Mario rpg is by far the best game on the SNES Imo. I'm generally not one for rpgs either but I can play Mario rpg all day long.

I would recommend Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga, it is an RPG. But that is a loose definition. It is one of the funniest games I've played in a while.

I'll definately give it a go, it's good to try something different sometimes. I've never played Paper Mario either.

Is that the GBA one? I'll give that a try as well - will be an excuse to play on my GBA SP.
-
@ruckage yup. I might be biased, but I find superstar saga to be even better crafted than Mario RPG. Let us know what you think when you try it out! ;)
-
@ruckage unless you want cramped hands, emulate it
-
@lilbud
Never had a problem with cramped hands playing on GBA SP, it's nice to play on original hardware sometimes. -

Time to load up that ol' DS Lite and try and find a copy of Superstar Saga!

I'll add it to my to play list - I have a feeling I'll have many hours of gaming with all these titles.

That thing never appealed to me, just too small to be practical - it looks like it would be awful to play on. It has a nice screen though apparently. It's a shame the GBA SP AGS-101 was never released here as the front light on GBA SP is the only thing that lets it down a bit. I do have a Ds-lite for playing GBA games on as well though if I want a brighter screen.

@ruckage There is a remake coming to the 3DS later this year, you might want that instead.
