Ah nice, I forgot about that setting.

      mame2003-mouse_device = "mouse"

Would that affect the multiple mouse feature, or just the absolute coordinates?

it just makes sure that it listens for a mouse device (ie, standard USB mouse), and following these changes, multiple mice, in theory! it definitely works with one mouse.

BTW you need to make sure you're using a game that understands a mouse device. my test case was always centipede. i didn't test terminator 2 - best to stick with centipede IMO.

if you change the mouse_device to "pointer" mame2003 should understand any recognised absolute devices, but i believe previously the UDEV driver had difficulty with them. absolute devices aren't really covered in these changes AFAIK. best to leave those for the moment.

Shouldn't I be testing with a game that would support two mice, or do you just mean for testing pointer devices?

Above, it was thought that better support for pointer devices would come as a side-effect from the recent addition of multiple mouse support for RetroArch. This would have directly related to this thread, but since it isn't the case, it's probably best to continue this discussion here where it's not so off topic.

@masterful No, you have to go into Retropie settings and pair the Wiimote to your Pi's built-in Bluetooth, after plugging in the DolphinBar. If you did that, then I don't know... I have never had to calibrate anything in AdvMame 1.4 and it's very accurate (except for maybe one or two games, out of like 50).

Also, in case anyone is interested, I put a video together a week or so ago, showing how my setup works on Lethal Enforcers and Operation Wolf -

Ok that might help. I've been trying to install touchmote software and I don't think that's been helping me.
I will pair it with the pi3 Bluetooth then try again.
Just compiling a list of 5 games to try.
                    Thanks for all the help

@masterful Ah, yeah I don't know what that software is, but as long as you have these games in AdvMame 1.4, you dont have to calibrate anything, except mapping extra buttons on a few games like Operation Wolf, otherwise, trigger works automatically and crosshairs move right away. I have like 50 games that work in this setup, and you can see two that work in the video above, Lethal Enforcers and Operation Wolf. I can get you a full list of the games that work on my setup if you want.

but as long as you have these games in AdvMame 1.4

Same goes for AdvanceMAME 3.5 too.

@BGallagherLA i too would love a full list. Any chance you could post your config/s for these games. I plan to use advmame only for these games with the dolphinbar so it would save me a lot of time.

@edmaul69 No configs needed, and I wouldn't even know where to get the file if I wanted to. All I know is that, if these games are running AdvMame 1.4 (or apparently AdvMame 3.5), no calibration is needed. Literally just plug and play. Only thing you need to do is on games like Operation Wolf is to map the grenade button to the Wiimote, otherwise the trigger acts as both buttons. Anyway, here are all the games that work on AdvMame 1.4:

                              Alien 3
                              Bang!
                              Beast Busters
                              Blood Bros. (Set 1)
                              Born To Fight
                              Bubble Trouble (Japan, Rev C)
                              Cheyenne
                              Chiller
                              Clay Pigeon (Version 2.0)
                              Crackshot (Version 2.0)
                              D-Day
                              Dragon Gun
                              Ghost Pilots
                              Ghoul Panic

                              Last Bronx
                              Lethal Enforcers (11/19/92)
                              Lethal Enforcers II
                              Lethal Justice
                              Line of Fire

                              Narc
                              Ninja Assault
                              Operation Thunderbolt
                              Operation Wolf

                              Shootout
                              Showdown
                              Space Gun
                              Steel Gunner
                              Terminator 2
                              The Tin Star
                              Under Fire
                              Vs. Duck Hunt
                              Vs. Freedom Force
                              Vs. Gunsmoke
                              Vs. Hogan's Alley
                              Wanted
                              Who dun It
                              Zero Point
                              Zero Point 2
                              Zombie Raid

I'm sure there are more, but those are the ones I have found that work. Trying to get Area 51 and Maximum Force to work, but those have CHD files and I cant get those working. Newer games like that, and Time Crisis, dont seem to work well. I can technically get Time Crisis working but on my Pi 2 it SUPER laggy and not even really playable. Hope this helps. Let me know if you have any other questions.

I believe it's just listed as 'advmame' under the optional installs and is the latest version of AdvanceMAME. The head developer added official Pi support in version 3.2. It runs very well and has hardware accelerated framebuffer support. The latest AdvanceMESS installs alongside it also.

                                  @BGallagherLA thanks for posting this.
Sorry to ask this. Do you have to nap the buttons in the retropie controller setup for this or do they detect automatically in mame?
I tried to pair my Wii remote in retropie config as a blue tooth device but it did not work.
                                  Thanks

@masterful It should automatically detect the trigger in AdvMame 1.4 but not anything else. If it doesn't detect the trigger button at the bottom, I don't know... are you on the latest version of RetroPie and AdvMame? This only works on the latest version of AdvMame which came out last year and added light gun support, so you may want to uninstall and reinstall AdvMame to get the latest version. There are some games though like Operation Wolf, where the gun has an additional button for grenades, that you have to map the A button for the grenade. Otherwise, the trigger basically acts as both buttons, and you waste all your grenades right away

@BGallagherLA thanks for that. In the emulation station it detects the movement of the remote. But no buttons. When I go to conigure controllers it can't find the Wii remote. I guess I need to sort this out if I'm going to try playing these games and in general.
I've been told to try and pair the remote in the controller setup. It can see the remote as a Bluetooth device but will not connect. Have you had this issue at all?
Thanks again for your help and advice.

@masterful You have to pair the Wiimote to the Pi's on board BlueTooth in the RetroPie menu you can see on EmulationStation. You should see a BlueTooth menu and in there you can pair the Wii mote to the BlueTooth. The trigger should work right away without mapping or anything, not sure why it isn't. Might wanna try uninstalling and reinstalling AdvMame 1.4 from experimental packages. These gun games only work with the latest update to AdvMame 1.4 which was released last year and added light gun support.

You can't configure the controllers like you can in the main menu, you have to do it through the advmame menu in a game, which you bring up by hitting Tab on keyboard while you're in a game. But first, make sure you have the Wiimote paired through Bluetooth. Let me know if you have any other issues.
