TG16/PC Engine on Pi Zero?
-
That file does not exists in my setup.
For reference the only thing done is:
-Use Win32diskimager to image my 32 GB microSD card to the version of RetroPie for Pi 0/1 located here: https://retropie.org.uk/download/
-f4 > "sudo /home/pi/RetroPie-Setup/retropie_setup.sh" > Configure my 8bitdo NES30 Pro controller's bluetooth connection.
- Restart
-Configure controller
-Raspi-Config > Advanced Options > Expand Filesystem
-Restart
-Let RetroPie setup my USB's filesystem
-Copy ROMs to USB
-Transfer ROMs to Pi.
[plain]
-Restart.
[/plain]
-Where I am now.I haven't even gotten around to trying to get that GPIO 5/6 momentary button shutdown/restart script installed yet...
-
Sorry about those random [plain] tags, it kept turning one of the dashes into a bullet point, and I was trying to get rid of that, now it won't let me edit it anymore, because apparently it got flagged as spam somehow....
-
Can you confirm that the ROMs have been transfered over successfully to
/home/pi/RetroPie/roms/pcengine/
? -
Roms are present in both the pcengine folder, and the tg16 folder.
-
... and now, out of the blue, they decide to show up... And I was even able to change the theme for it to TG16 with no issues (at least once I figured out how to get into the text editor through the file manager...)
Didn't even have the flash drive plugged in again, 10+ resets without them showing up, then suddenly they do... Weird.
Still trying to figure out how to manually add boxart though, I wish the "User decides on conflicts" option didn't make the user decide on ones without a conflict; out of the 40ish games I tried scraping so far 9 of them were NOT the top option...
*edit, and NONE of my tg16 games are even in the scraper's database...
-
have you tried Steven Selph's Scraper?
-
It'll be a few hours till I can work on the Pi again, I'll try out that scraper as soon as I can.
If I'm reading the description right, to use my boxarts I'd just have to (for NES roms, once I installed that scraper):
-Put an images folder in the NES ROMs folder on the USB stick, and put all boxart for NES in there.
-Let that folder transfer over to the Pi from the USB stick.
-run "/opt/retropie/supplementary/scraper/scraper -img_format=png -image_suffix="" -add_not_found=true -download_images=false"
(-image_suffix="" because the boxart filenames are identical to the ROM names except for the file extension)And that'll work?
-
I gotta tag out on this one as I haven't used the scraper in that way before. Hopefully someone else will know. Before diving into the weeds on this, you may just want to run the scraper in it's default setting to see if it picks up your games automatically.
-
I'm only about 1/2 way done getting all my ROMs organized and transferred over to my Pi, and I've already got 10,000+ games on there (my CoinOPS collection on my Xbox is over 25,000 games, and I did the tedious work of collecting boxart and screencaps for all of them to make a screenshot edition, without preview video to save HDD space, a while back).
Scraper is going to take a LONG time to finish if it has to download everything, lol.
Though I suppose if the "-image_suffix=" tag doesn't work, I can just whip up a batch file to rename everything with "-image" at the end (REN ".png" "-image.png"; or something similar, I'd have to lookup the syntax)...
-
I've got all the scraping issues figured out and everything has boxart now. Thanks for the help with everything.

Good to hear. If you get some time, I'm sure it would help others if you could detail the solution you landed on.
