Kodi - Artwork, Posters etc saved to USB/NAS?
-
Hi,
In order to save storage space/cache on the Pi 3 is there a way that the artwork, posters and other images/metadata for my Kodi (retropie) library can be saved to a USB or my NAS (where my media files are)?
If so how would I go about setting that up?
Or, what do other users do regards to this with their own setup?
Thanks

@bjwest If you mean to keep all Kodi seetings in another location other then in the home folder, the only way that I know is by symlinking the kodi folder.

I've setup my library to only use local data only, then i scrape my movies/series with tinyMediaManager on my Windows PC and move them to my external USB which is connected to my Pi via FTP. Each Movie with all corresponding is in it's own folder and easy to backup/delete/whatever.

@ectoone Yes this sounds like the option I would be looking into.
Do you recall what steps you took to set it up specifically?
All of my files are in one large folder so does that mean I have to individually create new folders for each file?

No, but maybe it would be better, to get things better organized.
Here you have all information about that video/library management:

@bjwest When you add a path to a library within Kodi you can select the Use Local Data only option and enable the checkbox to Look for Movies in their own folder. Thats pretty much it for setting Kodi up.
If you use tinyMediaManager to scrape all your Movies/Series beforehand, you can/must also use it to batch rename the files (which can also put them into separate folders).
That means, if you have a lot of files it might take a while to get all the data.
