FBA works but not MAME

Okay so weeks ago I had installed some MAME roms on my retropie and everytime I tried them the screen would go black and then go back to main menu. However when I put the MAME roms into FBA Folder for retropie they worked no issue, as well as for the NEO GEO folder too. While I can still play the arcade games on FBA, any ideas why MAME wouldn't run the MAME roms?
