[Amiga] Amiberry + WHDLoad = Holy Grail - Amiberry's official thread
-
Everything I've tried so far has worked great, except Another World. I've tried AnotherWorld_v2.4_0425.lha and AnotherWorld_v2.4_Fr_2377.lha. In both cases I get a green screen straight after the code wheel screen. I'm using the Amiga Forever kickstarts.
BTW is there a way to search this thread for information, rather than the whole retropie forum?

@nemo93 I have added a section for Amiberry in the Docs: https://retropie.org.uk/docs/Amiga/
I have placed Amiberry at the top of the list of emulators as it's probably the most straightforward to set up and use. Let me know what you think.
@dudleydes hey apologize I never replied. Thanks for the doc it's perfect now. Hence I've edited my post above to reflect that. Cheers!

Hi all,
Long time owner and love the Amiga. Amiberry with WHDLoad has been working great on my Pi till recently after updating. Now ALL games appear horizontal correct but vertically too far down cutting off the bottom 1/4 of the Amiga screen. Is there an over arching config to correct the vertical position and save it for all ?Thanks,

@moreginger Same issue. Anyone here knows how to play Another World?
-
Hi Guys,
@moreginger @Chuck_B the game does work fine here at least without using the Amiga Forever kicks. I've been playing it for a while with the latest Amiberry 3.0.11 on a Pi3B+ without any issue - the lha version is the same as yours
AnotherWorld_v2.4_Fr_2377
. What are your other system/hardware specs?@Dwarfboysim since the release of Amiberry 3.0.3 new parameters to control screen centering have been introduced. You could find them in the Amiberry GUI under the display setting. Then look after the Horizontal/Vertical centering boxes to the right side (next to screen height/width). The automatic centering was in place before 3.0.3 yet it has multiple side effects with other games (Banshee, Body Blows, etc) so it has been disabled by default. Perhaps you could use the
whdboot/hostprefs.conf
in order to set global options as described in Amiberry's wiki (scroll to the bottom) but I'm no expert on that matter. An alternative way of enabling centering is to add the following lines to the Display / Screen Setup section in an already existing .uae config file:; ; *** Display / Screen Setup ; [...] gfx_center_horizontal=smart gfx_center_vertical=smart
For the record let me share here the config file I've been using for that game. Copy/paste everything in a file that you'll name after
AnotherWorld_v2.4_Fr_2377.uae
(or whatever name your lha does have) and store it under theconf
directory of Amiberry (eg./opt/retropie/configs/amiga/amiberry/conf
). -
@nemo93 now it says "Please insert volume Games in any drive".
I changed every reference to the game file and i also changed the following lineskickstart_rom_file=/opt/retropie/emulators/amiberry/kickstarts/Kickstart v3.0 rev 39.106 (1992)(Commodore)(A1200)[!].rom kickstart_rom_file_id=6C9B07D2,Kickstart v3.0 rev 39.106 (1992)(Commodore)(A1200)[!]
I'm using Amiberry v3.0.11 on a Pi3
-
@Chuck_B can you share the full specs here please including OS version / retropie / etc as well as the exact name of the package/whdload you're using for that game please? I'll try to reproduce. Also have you to checked the doc from either Amiberry's wiki or Retropie's especially the section related to the "bios"?
-
@nemo93 I'm using Retropie 4.5.1, Amiberry 3.0.11. How do I check the package/whdload?
ps: I installed the bios just like explained in the bios section
-
@Chuck_B the version is usually part of the filename. In my case
AnotherWorld_v2.4_Fr_2377
hence version 2.4 which is the latest to date as confirmed here. There's also a readme inside the lha archive you could check. It might be nice to keep the version within the filename as in my example. Amiberry might rely on that to automatically configure the game (thanks to thewhdload_db.xml
). Try to rename your game file like mine and check if this helps. -
@nemo93 renaming the game to AnotherWorld_v2.4_Fr_2377 gives me an AmigaDos terminal which says "CD failed returncode 20".
Anyway the exact name of my rom is AnotherWorld_v2.4_0425.lha
-
@nemo93 thanks will try it. Another question if I may. Trying to click on the update XML button in the AMIBERRY GUI and keep getting told ERROR no internet connection.
Thoughts?

@HoraceAndSpider what are the steps for the manual fix for TinTin please/
-
@BuZz thanks. Are there steps to update the file manually?
Does the file get updated when you update amiberry from binary or source?
-
@Dwarfboysim You have a reply on the amiberry issue now - the file is updated when updating from binary but only from when the binary was built. Same with source - it will be the last version updated on their repo.
The one they linked is the latest I guess.
-
@Chuck_B I just tried with your version of the game (AnotherWorld_v2.4_0425) and it worked flawless. Also you said:
CD failed returncode 20
I just found this ticket on Amiberry's github. Can you try deleting any autoboot file to see if that fixes it please? FYI autoboot files are being stored at this location
/opt/retropie/configs/amiga/amiberry/whdboot/save-data/Autoboots/<filename>.auto-startup
. If this doesn't remediate I'm afraid I'll be out of option.@Dwarfboysim Tintin is now working fine has the package has been updated to version 1.3a which fixes the issue with the
data
folder. If you haven't done so please update to the latest version the game and delete the autoboot file as explained above to be sure. -
@nemo93 removing the AnotherWorld autoboot files the game starts but after the wheel screen I get a green screen
can you list the crc of the kickstart roms you put in bios folder?

@nemo93 said in [Amiga] Amiberry + WHDLoad = Holy Grail - Amiberry's official thread:
gfx_center_horizontal=smart
gfx_center_vertical=smartWould these be the correct commands to place in the hostprefs.conf to turn on smart centring by default for ALL WHDLoad games and Amiberry configurations. I want to avoid having to tweak a custom UAE file for EVERY game as its happening to all of them

Read somewhere that kick 3.1.4(.1) was now supported in amiberry. I guess that it should be stored in BIOS folder as the other ones, but how should the file be named?
Here are some info regarding older kickstart files.
https://github.com/midwan/amiberry/wiki/Kickstart-ROMs-(BIOS)
Is it possible to have the above link updated with 3.1.4 and supported systems?
