Arcade miniatures with Pi (Zero probably). Anyone tried this?

I see all kinds of beautiful custom jobs on Pi systems but there's one category I haven't seen done. I am actually considering to build one but I'd like to see if I just didn't notice.
I'm referring to action figure-scaled arcade miniatures, just like the ones found in the link below but in addition to being decorative items, to be fully functioning cabinets!
Isn't it a wonderful idea? My only concern is the controllers, since the input parts will have to be made from scratch, especially the joysticks...

I think this is relatively close to the scale you referI'm in the process of making one with a pi zero and the adafruit 2.8" screen. Already cut out the cabinet pieces, made side art and the display glass/bezel. I'll try to post pics when I've finished the project

I've seen these in person and they are pretty neat.

If you need help then I might be able to assist in some areas. I have a bit of an addiction to making tiny things
Adafruit did make a small arcade machine in a similar fashion
