thanks mate i check it out

800x600 @ ? which hz clock freq mate
-
It depends on the display, but mine's at 60hz.
-
so i got a 1080p display running at 60 hz , can u give me a step by step, before game run hit a to getup run command . then go to ?, sorry a little bit confused. thanks
-
and do all your cut sequences run perfect thanks
-
then go to ?
There should be a listing that says something in the neighborhood of 'Video Render Mode'. From there you would set it to 800x600 at whatever hz is appropriate (if you're in a PAL region you might try 50) and from there you can back out to the first menu and lauch game should be at the bottom. I've kept the frame rate monitor in ReroArch up while playing and I never noticed it dipping below 60fps, even during the cut scenes.

Update snes9x2010 from source. there has been an update to it that adds superfx speed hack to star fox 2. The retropie binaries have not been updated.
-
There's been some reports that claim it's not quite enough for the Pi3, which might still make the resolution drop necessary. I haven't tried the new build out myself, so I can't confirm one way or another.
-
@mediamogul I have tried the new build. You do get the occasional hiccup as you do with other superfx games on the pi, but not often and runs pretty much full speed.
-
That's good to know. I've got all the SuperFX games running at a steady 60fps on mine with lr-snes9x2005 at the lower res. From the sound of it, those little hiccups might be ironed out the same way with 2010 now. I'll have to give it shot. 2005 has some potential timing issues that I'd like to leave behind if I could.
-
thanks for your help mate, i updated everything from up source,
emulator lr-snes9x2005
video mode dmt-9 800x600 @60hz 4.3, clock 40mhz progressive
rom star fox 2 usa
retro-arch render (1920x1080) and try 800x600
still getting scratchy sound on Nintendo logo and cut scenes . when i start the star destroyer cut scene (scratchy losing frames) and when playing inside when transformed
no shaders or overlay
thanks anyway for your helpalso star fox music slowing down and scratch when lot on screen
-
@juice problem with snes9x2005 is that it runs Starfox 1 and 2 too fast.
-
just updating from source
-
it was not to fast on mine just seemed to be dropping frames looks normal speed to how i remember it when i had cart , but was over 20 year ago. but thanks for all the info. i getting tired it 5am uk here so brain bit mashed lol
-
@juice star fox 2 is not that noticeable unless you compare it to it running on real hardware or snes classic. Star fox 1 on the other hand just plainly runs too fast, unless theres been a fix.
-
i did update from binaries last time so that could be it, still updating from source . do all my resolutions setting look right tho, just to confirm
video mode dmt-9 800x600 @60hz 4.3, clock 40mhz progressive
rom star fox 2 usa
retro-arch render (1920x1080) and try 800x600 -
so i when to manage packages
manage main packages
update from source just to confirm i am rightstill no good, 56 fs on title screen, 37-40 fps on intro with dragon
using lr-snes9x 2010
no shaders or overlay -
just changed over to another pi and getting
using lr-snes9x 2010
with crt pi shader no overlay
60fps title screen
52fps intro after start button
54fps ship launching
58-60fps game playusing lr-snes9x 2005
with crt pi shader no overlay
60fps title screen
52fps intro after start button
60fps ship launching
60fps game play
thanks for all your help guys much appreciated -
I just did a minor bit of research and it appears as though the timing issues are isolated to the original 'Star Fox' and lr-snes9x2005. This has to do with the fact that 'Star Fox' based it's timing completely off the clock setting of the SuperFX chip and lr-snes9x2005 is only emulating the clock speed of a SuperFX chip 2. A fix was put in place for lr-snes9x2010 and all other games are believed to use a more reliable timing scheme and remain unaffected no matter what you're using. I tested 'Star Fox' on 2010 to confirm and compared it to 2005 and the difference is night and day.
@juice It looks like you're making progress and are right at the edge of a steady 60fps, you might want to try the same settings, only with lr-snes9x2005 and see if it tips the scales.

i think i cracked it now. could you tell me what setting you have set in run command just to put it to bed .thanks mate for all your help
