“Failed to start load kernel modules” (SOLVED)
-
@cynital The command writes the system log to the
/tmp/dmesg.txt
file, which you should upload to pastebin.com and provide the link. -
@mitu im trying and nothing happens, what command is it? The one you put above cause it doesn’t do anything
-
@mitu i put in dmesg > /tmp/dmesg.txt but nothing happens then i try just /tmp/dmesg.txt but it says “permission denied”
-
@cynital You need to open the file and get its contents, it's a text file - you cannot execute it (that's the permission denies error).
Transfer the file to your PC - how did you transfer your ROMs over to the PI ? -
@mitu both with usb and over wifi, so you want me to go on the pc and look for what?
-
@cynital You'll need a browser to upload the file, so yes, use a PC. Transfer the file with SCP, or if you're using File Shares, copy the file to the ROMs folder and get it from the
roms
file share:cp /tmp/dmesg /home/pi/RetroPie/roms
-
@mitu ok so i find it in file on retropie files?
-
@mitu where do i find the thing i need?
-
@cynital I'm sorry, find what ?
-
@mitu sorry im not really understanding this can you help step by step or maybe contact me somewhere else, im really trying to fix this because i think this is what is not making my afterglow xbox controller work (its a 3rd oarty controller so thats why)
-
@cynital How did you install RetroPie ? Did you use the image provided on the RetroPie website or other image ? Have you installed anything else on it ?
If you're not familiar with RetroPie or Linux, I'd suggest to start with a known good system - use the official image and install it from scratch. After that, update RetroPie and all packages and re-try to add your controller. -
@mitu i got it from retropie website and installed the official image, i dont want to lose all my stuff on here, i installed screen savers and bezles and kodi, is there a way i could back it up?
-
@cynital If you installed the official image, I guess it's ok to keep it like this, but unless you're able to provide some logs/diagnostic info, I'm afraid I can't help you.
-
@mitu where could i do that? Im on a pc rn too looking at “bios” “configs “roms” “splashscreen” just tell me what i have to do, i could aslo go to my pi, and i just installed ssh
-
@cynital OK let's try again. To get the system log
dmesg > /home/pi/RetroPie/roms/dmesg.txt
Look in the
roms
folder via the file share on the PC and thedmesg.txt
file should be there. Upload it to pastebin.com. -
i looked in roms but cant find dmesg.txt
-
@mitu i found it its a bunch of stuff right?
-
@mitu https://pastebin.com/aamiR6hU i pasted it
-
@cynital OK, let's give it another shot. Reboot, plug in your controller and try to see if it work. Obviously, it won't work - as you reported. Exit Emulationstation, then execute the following command at the terminal
dmesg | nc termbin.com 9999
The command will automatically upload the log and will print an URL. Copy that URl and paste it here.
-
@mitu i got this, /http://termbin.com/a4fc with out the slash in the front tho cause it wouldent let me post with out it cause its "spam"
