      Hi all,
I'm wondering if there is a way to tell Emulationstation to show at startup a specific system.
I'm not referring to go inside a system, I know that there is a setting in menu for that; I would like that, after booting, the carousel has "arcade" on the center of the screen instead of "Kodi" since I rarely use Kodi and I almost always use Arcade.
I'm using the Carbon Video theme.

      Thanks!

@papinist What's the use case ? If you don't want to start inside a system, how is this useful ?
I guess you can fiddle with the es_systems.cfg and re-arrange the systems' order to have your desired system at the top of the file, but I didn't try to see if it actually works.

You'll want to do exactly as @mitu said. Put the system you want the carousel to start on as the first system in your es_systems.cfg file.

I have gone through mine extensively to make sure the config system is the last system and the rest are in alphabetical by manufacturer, split by console and handheld within manufacturer and then chronological within manufacturer/platform order.

@mitu the little usefulness is to be at the begin of the system carousel, instead that on kodi since I barely use it.
Copying the idea from @LiveFastCyYoung I moved both kodi and Retropie menu at the very end of the carousel - other systems are already in alphabetical order.

            Thanks guys!

Can I also remove 'ports' since it only has kodi inside? Should I delete the corresponding rows from es_systems.cfg? I would prefer to hide it instead of deleting.

@papinist I believe the file to start Kodi is just a .sh file in the ports Rom folder, you can change the extension to something that is not mentioned in the es_systems.cfg Kodi section.
That's at least what I did for some scripts in the Retropie folder.

I renamed kodi.sh in Ports rom folder in kodi.sh_ and it worked! No more useless Ports section in carousel.
                Thanks!

I want Emulation Station to startup with the console of my choice. Since 3DO is first in alphabetical order. Emulation Station always starts up with 3DO. If not that at least start Emulation Station with the last console I was using.

@Orionsangel Nothing has changed between the answers/solutions given above - you have the same options as before. You can choose to start in the Last Played collection, so you can go back to your last played game if you wish.
I'm not sure whether you're using Retropie - and its fork of EmulationStation - or some other distribution that includes EmulationStation (or perhaps ES-DE). Other forks may have other options, but as far as RetroPie's fork is concerned, nothis is changed from the above.

                    Please don't bump old topics.
