Software dev questions.

Hi guys, been a fan for a long time of RetroPie (thanks to the devs and community).
I have been using a software that i wrote myself with RetroPie. And a buddy of mine said..."you should probobly share this, cause this i pretty good". So right now i am re-writing it so it can be used by people who do not know exactly what to do In it (error checks and so on).
So i will share this...and hopefully someone other then me will find it useful. What is the rules about developing something that is for the RetroPie community?
- Can i use the name "RetroPie" in my software? Not naming the software to like "RetroPie Manager"...i mean like a button called "Link to RetroPie" or something like that.
- Should i post a W.I.P post (not finished yet)?
- Post in "Projects and Themes" or "Ideas and Development"?
- Can i include a "donation link" in the post/software?
It´s free software as in "free to share and use". So number 4 isn´t that important...if someone want´s to send me 1 dollar...that´s awsome...but not important.
I thought i would ask before doing anything that will upset the devs/community of RetroPie :-)
Thanks in advance for any help.

contributions are awesome! but i think your questions are only possible to answer with some context; what have you developed?

All of my questions are dependable on what type of software i wrote? It´s a Windows software that reads connected RetroPie content...like a "manager".

@jcode You seem to be reluctant to share what your software really does/wants to do - why is that ?

It´s not done yet so i don´t want to talk about it to much...more then it´s a sort of a manager. One of my questions was if i should create a "Work In Progress" post to talk about it...maybe show some screenshots and stuff.

It's up to you if you want to post or not a WIP topic so people can see the progress. Usually themes developed have a WIP topic, depending on how complicated they are, to get feedback from users.
If you think you could benefit from users' ideas to add features to your program before comiting to a release, then go ahead and add a topic to show your idea and work. -

If it's software that includes links to roms or downloaders for them we obviously don't condone it because it will do nothing but damage the project and earn you a nice ban. But there are plenty of web/theme managers scattered throughout the forum so if it's similar to those I don't see an issue with sharing it with the community

No...the software does not contain any illegal stuff. I would never do anything to hurt RetroPie and it´s community.
Thanks for your answer.
Contributions to the project are always appreciated, so if you would like to support us with a donation you can do so here.
