Parasite Eve 2 Retropie Emulation fix?
-
Hello, I've been searching for a fix for Parasite Eve 2 for a better part of a week, just kinda wanted to bump a post and see if anyone has had any luck? After all it is 2019.
-
I'm not sure if the Parasite Eve 2 option still exists/works in the RetroArch menu. The only other solution would be to try to put the correct SBI file with your Rom. You can google for "Parasite Eve 2 SBI" to find them. You still need to know your exact version.
-
@EctoOne the option is there, it doesn't do anything though. Though about trying the PAL version with the fix enabled and see if that works, it freezes right as I try to leave the shooting range at the very beginning of the game. I have seen users say it's impossible to play it on the pi because of its ARM8, but it's 2019 and if we can't play a ps1 game on here because of a little coding we are way behind where we should be. Lol.
-
@therealrahlin yeah, why haven't you fixed it?? cmon dude. it's 2019.
-
@dankcushions hahahaha. Moderator coming with a burn huh? Lmfao. I'm just saying as ancient as this game and the tech that the game was made on is, we should be able to run it fine on a pi 3b+ there has got to be a fix for this. If there is one in the menu why doesn't it work anymore? People have said it used to work and now it doesnt, so that leads me to my next question. Why even include the option in the official retropie image?
-
@therealrahlin said in Parasite Eve 2 Retropie Emulation fix?:
Why even include the option in the official retropie image?
RetroPie doesn't modify the emulators' source to remove or add new options. If the upstream project still maintains this option, then it will also be present in RetroPie.

@mitu well that makes sense. I Just hope a future update will fix the parasite eve 2/vandal hearts fix option, it sucks to see such a great game looking amazing on the pi, but not being able to actually play it.
-
@therealrahlin if you really want something to happen, you should report this in the right place: https://github.com/libretro/pcsx_rearmed/issues
Make sure to describe your problem clearly. Be very clear, as @mitu mentioned, that RetroPie has nothing to do with the development of the core. That said, if they don't reply to you or you don't get what you want, please refrain to come ranting here :)
-
@hhromic it's a known issue: https://github.com/notaz/pcsx_rearmed/issues/57
(there's also a similar issue in the libretro fork, but it's kinda redundant there as upstream is where the fix is needed)
no-one has worked on this emulator in years so i wouldn't get your hopes up.
-
@dankcushions oh sorry, didn't scout myself about the issue (I think the OP should do it).. I guess I'm not yet in 2019 :)
thanks for the heads-upEdit also OP was complaining about removing the option from the libretro core, so he should also request that inthe issue tracker and test his luck :)

@dankcushions i know how to fix parasite eve ii. In core options enable the parasite eve 2 fix and set psx clock to 70. Save options for game. Exit game. Go back in and verify it is still set to 70. If yes then it should work just fine.
-
Works in standalone pcsx rearmed as well.
-
@edmaul69 Wow that worked! Thanks, you are amazing!
-
@edmaul69 Thank you very much for the fix, works perfectly!

For the benefit of anyone else stumbling upon this via Google (I understand the last post is a year old), and trying to get Retroarch to work with Parasite Eve 2 with PSX Beetle HW.
PE2 really hates having certain settings changed from defaults. The 2 main ones are;
-CPU Dynarec (disabled)
-CD Loading Speed (2x)Here's a quick screenshot of settings that should guarantee to work (with Retroarch on Windows anyway).
