8Bitdo NES30 Pro Bluetooth controllers not registering right analog left and right positions properly
-
@ExarKunIv Doesn't seem to be something out of the ordinary and you have the updated 2.0.9 libSDL2.
-
@mitu yea
i understand if it just does not work, but there are times that it does map perfectly and when once i reboot. poof....it stops working -
@mitu
now to make things even more confusing.if i power on my system. all three controllers will not work. ok we got that.
but if i go to the retropie menu and run show ip. once i back out....they work. i can map them just fine. granted they will come put as gamepad 4, 5, 6
i know that the ip has nothing to do with it, but something about running a script seems to do something with the bluetooth.
well thats all i got a the moment.

@ExarKunIv said in 8Bitdo NES30 Pro Bluetooth controllers not registering right analog left and right positions properly:
No other thoughts on what's going on.
Not really. But I don't understand why your gamepad doesn't work connected in Switch mode. The manual says that once paired in Switch mode, the controller will automatically pair in that mode by just starting it with the
Start
button. -
@ExarKunIv Yes it was in Android/D-Input mode when I ran my test. I was also on the latest firmware for the N30 Pro 2.
-
@mitu for my Pro 2 that will work, but for my older pro, neither will boot in to the switch mode from the start, need to hold down the start and y each time
and the way im taking the wording they have in the manual
is that the controller will not have to be paired once it is paired, not that the controller will boot in the paired mode.
but that is how im reading@G30FF and you are running the latest build for retropie, i started to have problems after 4.4.8
-
Update.
for me it does not matter what i use. it will just not see the left on the right analog stick.i even plugged in my FC30 with usb. after i cleaned out the ES controller list. and it will still not work.
i tried this on 2 systems and both my NES30 and FC30. both will not work with USB
-
@ExarKunIv I was on 4.4.9 when I tested it.
-
I ran into this today too with fc30 pro. The stick works fine in retroarch if I manually remap it, but emulation station won't map it.
-
@crono141 Can you update your Emulationstation package and re-try ?
-
@mitu
i updated it yesterday when i saw buzz was rolling back the SDL2. and it worked yesterday -
i updated one of my other systems and its back to not working again.
how can i see what SDL2 version is running. i see that where was a new commit a few hours ago
-
@ExarKunIv So probably the issue appeared because of the new SDL version.
What is confusing is that you reported this happened when upgrading to 4.4.9 (released 27 days ago), but the SDL switch happened 9 days ago, when 4.4.11 was tagged. Furthermore, the original topic was started on 22 Feb, long before the SDL version was updated. -
@mitu yea, not sure either.
-
im beginning to question if it worked for me yesterday or not.
sadly i lost that card with all the swapping and such. so i dont have the build from last night now.so for now im just going to stick to stock 4.4
-
@mitu did a clean load, updated everything. and even with what buzz did. the left on the right stick still does not work.
but will work once i use anything to back me out of ES.just wanted to let someone know. and yes i have tried 3 different 8bit controllers and 3 different boards. the out come is still the same.
i even manually revert the SDL package just for the heck of it. still the same.
so ill just stick with 4.4 and just keep testing as new updates come about
-
@ExarKunIv I’m having the same issue here and found this thread by googling. 8bitdo SF30 Pro. Everything will map EXCEPT the right analog stick won’t register left. Very frustrating. Will try some of the recommendations here.
-
@joeljoel1947 hate to say, im glad im not alone.
so far i have not gotten anything to work, so it is something deeper. just the question is what -
This is probably the cause of the issue: https://github.com/RetroPie/EmulationStation/commit/b097648dde9ed6c431592f3ca6e7c34e08d7575c
@buzz - The problem could be avoided if the axis adjustment is only done for trigger mapping. Will look at it when I have time, but it might be best just to revert this for now (keeping in mind that reverting breaks mapping for controllers using
hid-sony
driver).
