Bugs in PCSX-ReARMed on RPi3 B
-
Hi, so I wasn't sure whether to post this issue I'm having in this forum, or in the (rather abandonned) github for pcsx-rearmed, because it's rather weird, but let me explain:
When playing Night Raid [SLPM-87048] using the latest version of RetroPie, with upgraded RetroArch 1.7.6 and the binary versions of the lr-pcsx-rearmed and pcsx-rearmed (oddly, couldn't compile either of those from source using retropie-setup), I can't see the enemies on the screen or the backgrounds, only the attacks (it's a shmup game), so it is unplayable.
However, if I run the same copy of the game on RetroArch 1.7.6 for Windows and the version of pcsx-rearmed that it comes with, the game works just fine! I wonder if I'm doing something wrong, or if I could somehow compile this specific version of the core that runs on windows PC just fine but not on the pi?

@webodan Do you have the correct BIOS files in place ? On PC, are you sure you're not using the Mednafen core to play the game ? Last I tried, the
pcsx_rearmed
core was just crashing on Windows trying to load a game. -
@mitu Are these the correct ones?
Also, nope, it doesn't use beetle on Windows, this is the version that shows both backgrounds and enemies just fine

No, they're not correct - see the BIOS section in PS1 emulator page. Can you please add more info about your system, as requested in https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first ?

@mitu OK man, here i go:
Pi Model or other hardware: PI3 B @ stock freq
Power Supply used: it's a random chinese one, but it's 5v3a and NOT a phone one so it never gave me any problems. i even have it with a 500 gig sshd plugged in over usb with all the games on it
RetroPie Version Used (eg 3.6, 3.8.1, 4.1 - do not write latest): retropie-setup says 4.4.9
Built From: from the retropie 4.4 image on the website
USB Devices connected: a 500 gig sshd + the controller, mayflash f300 when i try to play this gameController used: mayflash f300
Error messages received: none, the game just behaves erratically
Log found in /dev/shm/runcommand.log (if relevant): should i add this?
File: Night Raid [SLPM-87048].cue pointing out to Track 01.bin (cuesheet is fine i double checked)
Emulator: PCSX-ReARMed
Attachment of config files: which config file should i add?
How to replicate the problem: just run the game using pcsx-rearmed on retropie 4.4.9 with the latest core and those bioses i have. regardless of lr-pcsx-rearmed or pcsx-rearmed it craps out
also, i'm gonna try using the bios files stated in the BIOS section you linked. thanks again
EDIT: OK, so I double-checked the md5s of the bios files that i have downloaded BEFORE and AFTER sending them to the pi (just in case they would get corrupted as they were sent or something) they matched on winmd5 just fine.
i've also tried deleting and copying the game again (for the same reason) and i'm sadly having the same error, so even if the md5s of the bioses were not correct, that wasn't the problem. bummer.....

lr-pcsx-rearmed
can use onlyscph5501.bin
from the list of BIOS files you have, and that file has a wrong MD5 in your screenshot - it's not what's in the docs or what the core expects.Unfortunately I can't get a copy of the game to test, but can you just get a RetroArch log file and put it on pastebin.com - enable Verbose logging in the Runcommand launch menu, run the game for a while, then upload the
/dev/shm/runcommand.log
log file to pastebin.com and paste the URL here.
