Donkey Kong Spooky Remix in Retropie?
-
Just had a play of Crazy Barrels and even with dipswitches set to 3 lives you get 6. Error?
-

@JimNeatface No not an error. The crazy barrels is that difficult that i decided to give six lives at the start of the game. This is hard coded regardless of the dip switches.

Like I said
Where ? xD
Anyway, i saw some mentions of people using
ottopza
(the most recent version, seems to be based onottopz
), are you sure that's not the "best" version ? -
@barbudreadmon I mentioned it earlier :D :D
ottopza only has one version and I can't see anything about it that's better. ottopz has eight variants in one, and has both the original Pacman and MS Pacman-derived versions, both sets of ghost names, and normal and fast speeds. so it's like a total history of Crazy Otto in one ROM :) L:)
(as far as I can tell all ottopza actually does is strip seven of the variants out of ottopz)
-
@bluesparkle ah fair enough. six lives seemed a lot for a game that's basically the same screen over and over, but your hack so your call :)
-
@JimNeatface
ottopz
added -
@barbudreadmon Oh wow, thanks! Fast work :) :) :)
-
I bodged up an overlay for it :)
can't upload it at higher res :(
-
@Riverstorm I've updated lr-fbneo as said and tested all the supported donkey kong hacks. And they all work great !!! This was exactly what i was looking for. Great to play my own hacks on the retropie.
Note: I had to rename certain roms in the zips to get it working, but with the xml (got it from GitHub) that was not difficult to do.
-
@bluesparkle - Thanks for the headsup. I'll download the newest DAT and rebuild my set hopefully this weekend so I can play...errr "test" them! ;)
-
@bluesparkle Thanks for explaining about dkpace. Your Donkey Kong Reverse is a very well made hack. Thanks for doing it.
-
@barbudreadmon Thanks, as well, for Crazy Otto. It works perfectly.
-
Slightly confused here - is dkspring in fbneo or not? doesn't seem to work for me, using the ROM from the DK forum renamed to dkspring.zip.
-
@JimNeatface To my knowledge, no. I've compiled my own version of lr-fbneo with it included.
-
@spud11 ah, okay. fingers crossed...

I can't locate "Donkey Kong Spring Stages" by "Sock Master", so i won't add it to fbneo
Quoting myself

@barbudreadmon oops, my bad - I figured as someone else had alrteady done the work they'd have passed it to you. but it's here:

Ive never made it off the first stage anyway :D :D :D

Brendon Parker here, creator of the revival Crazy Otto project at PacificArcades.com/crazy-otto :)
Scott Lawrence's, Gathino's, and my own ROM recreations are indeed three separate projects. My replication is substantially the most accurate of the bunch, specifically to the October 12 1981 revision, though the ROM is not currently available to the public due to the incredibly delicate legalities surrounding Crazy Otto. Moreso currently than ever, with a massive ongoing lawsuit among Bandai Namco, GCC, and AtGames over the ownership of Ms. Pac-Man/Crazy Otto.
Maybe in the future things will change once legalities die down.

Doesn't look like an interesting hack to me.
