Emulation Station not booting

Use Rasberry Pi 3 B
Use Cana Kit official power source
Downloaded it off of github by using terminal
When I launch (or try to) emulationstation it flickers for a moment and then the code shows some things and then says "aborted"

Can you post the errors printed on the terminal before the aborted message is shown ? Are you launching EmulationStation using the pi user or via sudo ?

Are you launching EmulationStation from a Desktop/X.org session ? Try launching it from the console terminal, without any desktop environment started.

I run it from desktop. What do you mean by console terminal? And how do I do that?

Use raspi-config and configure the system to auto-login to the console. If EmulationStation doesn't start automatically after a reboot, then use the setup script to enable the autostart of EmulationStation - see https://retropie.org.uk/docs/FAQ/#how-do-i-boot-to-the-desktop-or-kodi.

Is there any reason you're not using the RetroPie image directly ?
