Is buying a 4GB Pi4 worthwhile for ISO precaching (e.g. PPSSPP) and does it offer any worthwhile performance benefits?

So, now that the RetroPie dev images have advanced to the point where I'm looking around for a decent Pi4 kit, I'm wondering whether it would be worth buying a 4GB Pi4 if I'm planning to play games that use large ISOs in emulators that support disc image precaching (Beetle PSX, PPSSPP). It stands to reason that if you're planning on preloading an entire 1GB ISO in RAM, you will need at least an extra gig of RAM available.

Question is, is there a worthwhile performance benefit from precaching on a Pi4? I certainly notice a benefit on my Ryzen 5 3600/RX 580 with Retroarch in PCSX and PPSSPP, as file system reads are the biggest culprit when it comes to stutter.

I'd be grateful for any feedback and, for anyone with a Pi4 using PPSSPP, for a couple of quick tests at their end.
