Which Mame is suggested for the a Pi 4 with 4GB of Ram?

You can run a few more games full speed on fb-neo now like the taito f3 games (elevator action returns, Ninja Baseball Batman, etc) and some cave games (dodonpachi3 dai ou jou)
I´ve got pretty good performance with DoDonpachi 3 (&2) using FBNeo on my Pi3B+ (no overclocking).
But to be honest: there is a difference using HDMI vs. AV-Output.
When i run DDP2 & DDP3 on the HDMI (55" Bravia) you recognize stuttering - running on the CRT ...fine!
I am playing the Taito F3-Games with AdvanceMame since years, they also run well using this emulator.I am pretty sure that all of these games will run perfect on HDMI too now with the Pi4B - but this is something that does not bother me as a CRT-Retronerd :D :D
I was more interested in the suppport of later MAME-Versions and of course more games.
I guess some more patience will be the right way ;) -

Same here, not the first time i read this recently so i have been wondering if some people aren't abusing the "cpu clock" core option again. I hooked that setting into our pgm driver just a few months ago in a failed attempt to reproduce original cabinet's slowdowns (there is still something missing, probably some kind of interrupt we aren't emulating properly), so it might be worth mentioning that downclocking this would actually provide a game experience closer to the original cabinet.

@barbudreadmon Can you recommend a particular value (range) of that setting?
-
I kinda just want to play Sunset Riders 2 player, since it lets you pick your characters.
(Green guy is my fav, best guns in the game!) -
@Jiryn which also runs perfect with AdvanceMame as well as with FBNeo on a Pi3B+ (AFAIR it was allready great playable on the Pi2B).
FBNeo offers even cheevos for that game :) -
@sirhenrythe5th
Sounds like a plan!
What's a good rom set for those?See, I'm just trying to find the perfect, all around fit for the Pi 4 4GB, so I can just play 90% of the games without issue of emulator or issues.
Already slightly disappointed that it's not as big of a leap as I would have hoped on other consoles.

@sirhenrythe5th
Which Advance mame did you use?.94, 104 or 3?
-
@Jiryn i always use the latest version, so i did start with 0.94 but use 3.9 at the moment ;)
The Romset required for AdvanceMame is 0.106. -
@sirhenrythe5th
Thank you!
it says .94 for the base, I didn't know which to grab. -
@Jiryn it is the package named just "AdvanceMame" - without version number.
This one is the current release (v3.9). -

This one is the current release (v3.9).Now I am wondering if I did something wrong.
Installed Advance Mame, started it up.... looked amazing... but for some reason my controller stopped working. It wasn't registering any of my inputs.SN30 Pro+ in Xbox/Windows mode.

@Jiryn did you configure your controls in the TAB-Menue by mapping them under "configure input (general)"?
I also use 8BitDo Pads (but in Android-Mode) -
@Jiryn You mean not ever, or suddenly after they worked in AdvMAME?
If the former, it's like @sirhenrythe5th said, because AdvMAME is not part of the RetroArch/LibRetro framework where all emulator cores share the same configuration. See the Docs about AdvMAME for a little more info.

@Darksavior A fixed mame2010 core has been uploaded here:
https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/26035/pi4-mame2010-crashing-on-tab-menu-inputs/42
With the fixed core, mame2010 no longer crashes when accessing the tab menu and no longer crashes due to "illegal instruction" in some games. With this, it is a quite usable core por the pi 4. -

@Jiryn But you got it working now?
Hint: if you map "Cancel GUI" to "select" + "start" you can exit the games like you are used to with the lr-emulators ;)
Hint2: if you furthermore want to get rid of the exit-menu, set "safe_exit=0" in the AdvanceMame-config-file. -

I've tried both general and this game and neither seems to accept the inputs of the controllerUnless I am missing something
Games run great though!Nm fixed it!
I have to hold the buttons to register...I can be a derp
How do I save it though? When I switch or reset all my controls disappeared
