      Judge Dredd & Rail Chase

both games , I have Never Heard or Played these light gun games ever , i was recommended they were really good light gun games , i Would like to try and give it a go

Could you play these games on the pi 3 or pi 4 with light gun support (mouse mode or Dolphin bar) ?

and what mame version will run it ?

Rail Chase has significant slowdown in certain sections, even on the Pi4. I tested it in FBNeo. It also has some glitchy graphics, even in current MAME on Windows.

Judge Dredd doesn't work in M2003 or M2003plus - the protection is unimplemented. As a CHD-based game it would almost certainly run terribly anyway, and I cba downloading a later version of the CHD to test it. Emulation is inaccurate even in latest MAME, although it is playable in current MAME on Windows.

So basically neither of these games are ideal on the Pi3 or Pi4.

Probably slowdowns present in the original game, you might be able to remove them by increasing cpu clock in core options.

          • FBAlpha FBNeo (Arcade)
          • Kronos (Sega Saturn/ST-V)
          • YabaSanshiro (Sega Saturn)
          • Reicast Flycast (Dreamcast/Naomi/AtomisWave)

@barbudreadmon There may be slowdowns on PCB but I tested in current MAME on my i7-based PC and it doesn't slow down nearly as much, although the graphics seem even glitchier in current MAME than FBNeo.

@stoo Having lots of differences between FBNeo & MAME for system16 based hardware isn't surprising, system16 is a historical driver for Final Burn (first FB driver and first emulator to run that hardware, the emulator's name is actually based on "After Burner"), current FBNeo driver is built upon that initial driver. You should report the glitches at https://github.com/finalburnneo/FBNeo/issues, we can't fix what we don't know about :)
