Rp4 EmulationStation Crashing on TV??
-
Hi there I recently got a retropi build up and running on a RP4 with Retropie Buster 4.7.1 I have a small 7" monitor that I use to setting it up and everything was great. Then I plugged it into my TV (Samsung Smart 4k) and right after the emulation station screen finished loading the consoles, it crashes. I am also noticing an interesting error, not sure if this has to do with it:
emulationstation: /home/pi/RetroPie-Setup/tmp/build/emulationstation/es-core/src/resources/Font.cpp:410: void Font::renderTextCache(TextCache*):Assertion '*it->textureIdPtr !=0' failed. Aborted
The only way I have found to solve this is by forcing 1080... However, this then makes for problems with the BezelProject.
Would love any help, this is a major bummer as I have spent quite some time putting this baby together. Thank you!

forcing 1080 is practically a requirement anyway, since emulation performance will be very bad at 4k. i can't imagine the bezel project has fundamental issues at 1080p as that is surely the resolution that most of their pi userbase is on, but that's a question for them.

Thanks @dankcushions. I found out the Bezel project can be problematic with certain consoles cutting off either the top and bottom or the left and right. In my case NES / Atari 2600 / Lynx all get. ut off on the left and right. I have played with integer scale in the Retroarch menu and found it can help.

@soulrider911 So I think I found out what I needed to do. Changing the aspect ratio within each system. However... How I make the changes stick... seems I make the change and save the remap in the retroarch menu, but upon reloading the changes to the aspect ratio are reset. Where would the core file be located? Maybe I need to change it there?

@soulrider911 remaps are for controller configuration changes. i would change it via https://retropie.org.uk/docs/Configuration-Editor/
