Hi everyone, after making some changes to the graphic options of ps1 games (mostly what's suggested in this tutorial

), and after tweaking between resolutions, my settings seemed to be working actually really well, but after I quit the game, the next time i launched a ps1 game it wouldn't work. Even worse, all my ps1 games stopped working ever since. Each time I'd see the prompt screen but when the screen turns black it doesn't show the regular message that the controller was identified, then it dumps me back to the Retropie menu. I tried loading with default video settings but nothing changes.
It's not a performance issue since Dreamcast games keep working properly. Any idea how can I get it back to normal?

@guyhotspur please provide details of set up as detailed in https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first

Did you change just core options or did you save retroarch settings?

To reset core options you can remove all the lines starting pcsx_rearmed in /opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch-core-options.cfg

A verbose log after launching will help debug

@guyhotspur this guy suggests changing the video output to x11? vulkan? completely nonsensical. please use our official guides only: https://retropie.org.uk/docs/Playstation-1/#video-double-internal-resolution

The way I see it, since we all have the same hardware per the image we use (Pi3, Pi4), there should be no need to tweak performance since I assume we are using the "best it can be" for our Pi model right out of the box. The only thing I can ever see changing is perhaps resolution to fit your screen, etc. Just my opinion.

@greenhawk84 Yes - and the configuration should be optimised per system+game combination.

For the where there is barely any margin for CPU/GPU/system bandwidth, then perhaps the installer could ask "Do you prefer to prioritise for beauty (bezels and shaders) or performance (latency options)?"

Or there could be an archive of tested configurations that we could install from, sort of like a "configuration package" repository, so I could install a "SNES - Mario All Stars - low latency+shader for Pi4" configuration.

@BuZz I cleared the configuration file from all lr-pcsx-rearmed lines and ran in verbose. I got this message:
/opt/retropie/supplementary/runcommand/runcommand.sh: line 1305: 1640 Segmentation fault /opt/retropie/emulators/retroarch/bin/retroarch -L and then paths to emulator, config file and rom.

@GreenHawk84 the issue was not only how it looks but the fact it took a non-proportional part of the screen and also would reverse my choices even after setting a revised configuration file. For example, it worked perfectly until the next time I launched and for some reason the game played on one quarter of my screen. I didn't touch the aspect ratio, it just decided to change on its own.

I find it very odd that occasionally games load when I start Retropie, then they don't. Metal Slug 6 MAME worked perfectly on under the roms/arcade folter, now it doesn't. Why does it happen?

@guyhotspur that’s not a verbose log and you didn’t supply all the info requested in https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first -

please start a new thread for your other issue with the associated verbose log (and https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first info)
