@iga i am quite unsure too, i doubt that everything i do via RGUI would be possible to manage via the configuration-editor.

since it allows the text editing of the config file, yes effectively everything can be done by configuration editor

Here is a summary of my must-have-changes via RGUI:

      • enable analog axis on controller P1 & P2

      what option specifically?

      • setup Retroachievements, change to "Hardcore Mode"

      yes

      • lr-flycast: enable access to NAOMI/Atomiswave service-menu
      • lr-duckstation: change memorycard-saving to *.srm

these are both core options - nothing to do with retroarch settings.

      • change audiodriver from "ALSA" to "ALSATHREAD" in all lr-emulators

as discussed in the OP, this is the retroarch default for pi4 now. no need to set it if you're using retroarch 1.9.5 or later. the only reason people need to set it manually is if they're running non-default config settings files...

we are now wildy off-topic. i don't want to turn this into a general retroarch support thread

To avoid further OT in the lr-duckstation-thread i opened up this new topic.

I did as dankcushions recommended (thanks a lot) and did a reset to all my "retroarch.cfg"-files by overwriting them with the *-dist-files.
      Worked great so far.

I had a look into the "Configuration Editor" but in the end i preffered to edit the retroarch.cfg in opt/configs/all/retroarch/ manually with the "sudo nano"-command.
      Worked great too.

But i am still not quite sure which changes do affect RA to write a custom *.cfg-file, so i dare to ask:

      • does remapping the inputs via RGUI and saving this "save input mapping (core)" result in a custom RA-config-file, or are the remapping-configs saved seperatly?
      • does changing the shader in RGUI and save them also for the whole core result in a custom RA-config? I realized that these seem to be saved as glps-files, so i guess they dont harm the RA-config-file(?)
      • did i understand this right: everything that is changed in "options" in RGUI will be saved as "core-options" and will never result in a custom RA-config-file?

tia and have a nice weekend!

        saved separately. see: https://retropie.org.uk/docs/RetroArch-Configuration/#core-input-remapping

          @dankcushions thanks a lot!!!
Sorry, i read a lot of documentation over the years, but in this case i was too blind to have a look into the specific chapters...i only read the doc about "Configuration Editor", my fault!
Thanks a lot for your help & patience!
