Pi Model or other hardware: pi 400
Power Supply used: CanaKit 5.1V 3.5A Model: DCAR-RSP-3A5C
      RetroPie Version Used: 4.8
      Built From: Retropie website
      Controller used: 8BitDo SN30pro
      Emulator: Ir-mupen64plus-next

So what is happening is when I am playing for example Mario Kart 64 the button that is supposed to activate the question box is mapped to the joystick up, and all the controlls are mixed up to other buttons. I have tried re-mapping the controllers many times and nothing works, I even whent as far as formatting the micro sd card and reinstalling it. Please Help

@CONFUSION said in Controller buttons do not correspond to the right controls:

        RetroPie Version Used: 4.1

This version does not support the Pi4/Pi400 - what's the actual version that you use ? What's the name of the file you downloaded from the RetroPIe site ? What emulator are you using to play N64 games ?

You can check the N64 page to see how the input buttons/joystick/D-Pad are mapped to an N64 controller - which one of the 2 emulators are you using ?

The name of the emulator is shown in the runcommand launch menu splash - https://retropie.org.uk/docs/Runcommand.

Check if the mapping corresponds with the one described in the docs - see the previous link I posted. If you wish to change the mapping, then you can do so by using the core input remaping menus in RetroArch.
You can also try using the standalone emulator to check whether the default mapping for it is better suited for your needs.
