Which are the steps to install redream previous working version from ... command line?
Try:
sudo ~/RetroPie-Setup/retropie_packages.sh redream _autoupdate_ cd /opt/retropie/emulators/redream wget https://redream.io/download/redream.aarch32-raspberry-linux-v1.5.0.tar.gz tar xzvf redream.aarch32-raspberry-linux-v1.5.0.tar.gz
-
Installs the current redream package. Broken, but creates the necessary shortcuts and etc. for RetroPie to be able to use them later.
-
Navigates to the install directory.
-
Downloads the older, working version binary archive.
-
Unpacks the archive.
Unfortunately I can't get the 1st command line to take on my pi4. I'm new to Linux so it is likely I'm not inputting something correctly. I get this prompt after entering the command line 1 as you instructed above.
Sudo: ~/Retropie-Setup/retropie_packages.sh: command not found. Please advise the best way for a complete newb to fix this issue. Thanks

@rudeboy03 It's case sensitive.
RetroPie-Setup
instead ofRetropie-Setup
.You can enable ssh and connect from your PC to use copy and paste rather than manually typing.

Still hoping for something official to fix this but started looking about...
Is it worth trying to use PiKiss https://github.com/jmcerrejon/PiKISS to install a newer version of Mesa and see if that works with the newer version of Redream? Or are newer mesa versions just incompatible?
My Pi is backed up now (losing Redream taught me that lesson...) so I can have a go, I just won't waste my time if there is a reason Retropie (Buster) can't use newer version.

Try using the weekly Bullseye image: https://files.retropie.org.uk/images/weekly/From the readme file: These are automated development builds - they are not tested or supported nor should be
considered "Official" releases. -
@sugarfree Thanks for posting those. Unfortunately for me I have an entire arcade cabinet set up using the Buster version. Having got everything how I wanted it, I'm reluctant to try and start a new build...
However, on a slightly more positive note, I managed to find a fairly recent version of Redream on the Wayback machine. The link is here https://web.archive.org/web/20240306000057/https://redream.io/download
If you download version 1107 and install it manually it works fine with Retropie (Buster) and is pretty recent (Feb 2024 I think).
It runs the WinCE games and actually runs Volgarr the Viking which was my whole reason for updating in the first place.

Just as an update. Inolen has released a new build, 1132. This appears to work OK on my Retropie (Buster) build.
I installed it manually but I assume it will work to update from source through the Retropie menu.
Thanks all for your help.
