      Hi there,

      I recently bought a RP5 to run amiga games, I've sourced a few old favourites, im focusing at the moment on Rodland.

      I'm using an lha file, and loading the game through retropie + amiberry without changing the config

      The config its using is an A1200, with 14hz CPU.

      I'm running at 1080p as far as i can tell.

      The frame rate is 28/29 fps and the game is unplayably slow.

      I'm having the exact same issue with other games (Gods, New zealand story), so it seems global?

      If i press f12 and change CPU to fastest, i get exactly 50 FPS (but annoyingly when i click resume, my keyboard and gamepad stop working and i have to hard reset the pi!)

      Any advice would be great, I'm new to retropie but have some linux experience!

        Is it expected that games would be laggy generally on the RP5 on the default 7hz or 14hz CPU and that bumping the CPU up should resolve it? I dont think it is? but just checking as that would be an easy fix.

        if not, does anyone have any troubleshooting steps i can try? as im a bit stuck.

        in case it helps, im booting into retropie not running it from desktop.

        if anyone has any game recommendations that just work also that would be helpful in case i've just chosen 3 games that are a problem

          It'd be a good idea to be sure, being locked at 30Hz when using 4k resolution is a well-known issue.

            @danturn I made the switch to lr-puae2021 recently on pi4/pi5 on Bookworm.
            Had to adjust a few core options initially, but plays well.

            Raspberry Pi B, Pi B+, Pi2 B, Pi3 B, Pi3 B+, Pi Zero W, Pi4 (4GB/8GB), Pi5 (8GB/16GB), Pi Zero 2 W, GPi V1, minisforum GK50 / RetroPie 4.8.x

              @barbudreadmon thanks for that, so... i have set video=HDMI-A-1:1920x1080M@60D in my /boot/firmware/config.txt file.... when launching the game in amiberry it also has 1080p selected. Is there a way to double check?

              worth mentioning that my monitor is 1440P not 4k, so it would never run in 4k anyway

              one major annoyance is that if i press f12 to change game config to experiment, when clicking reset / resume both my controller and keyboard stop working so i have to hard reset the pi, not sure if anyone has any thoughts on that?

              any other raspberry pi 5 users out there with any tips that they used? i've just done a stock install onto the SSD, installed amiberry and moved the roms in.. :(

                  Ok, i did a full reinstall this morning... followed this:

                  https://github.com/danielfreer/raspberrypi5-retropie-setup

                  then i copied roms from amigaforever and the rodland.lha into the folders...

                  i then followed this advice from @mitu

                  You can force a boot resolution using the video parameter for the kernel boot, like any other KMS platform - see https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Kernel_mode_setting#Forcing_modes. This means adding to the in the cmdline.txt file from /boot/firmware (NOT config.txt) the video=HDMI-A-1:1920x10280@60 parameter at the end of the line .

                  rebooted and have the exact same issue :( <30 FPS, ultra slow performance and if i press F12 and then resume, the keyboard and joypad stop working

                    i tried out recalbox and with the same bios + rom (and seemingly the same config in amiberry, it all works at 50FPS as expected.. :(

                      Yes actually, and I was only playing SuperOffRoad and Lemmings...

                      I found an older Binary I built on RPi5 Bookworm back in December.
                      Maybe give this a try and see if the results are better than what you're getting now...

                      Amiberry v5.7.2 202412

                      pkg_origin="source"
                      pkg_date="2024-08-05T16:57:07-04:00"
                      pkg_repo_type="git"
                      pkg_repo_url="https://github.com/BlitterStudio/amiberry"
                      pkg_repo_branch="v5.7.2"
                      pkg_repo_commit="d4418a16827d0edd619874405d990725b908b82a"
                      pkg_repo_date="2024-06-06T16:22:44+02:00"
                      pkg_repo_extra=""

                      Just replace the files as needed and make the binary/sh executable (chmod 755).
                      I have not gone back and tried this binary myself, but curious what your results are if you do.

                      Here's an older Module script for v5.6.6 too if you want to try (don't forget the amiberry/*.diffs)
                      RetroPie 4.8.6 Amiberry v5.6.6 Setup Script

                      Edit: To be clear I've been using [video=HDMI-A-1:1920x1080@60D] in my cmdline.txt since day 1 on RPi5
