      I can't seem to get my configured gamepad on my gameboy zero to recognize the enter command when in the runcommand or dos style menus. I can navigate through the menu but not select. I could be wrong but it was my understanding that button "0" would be used for selecting, however there is no button labeled "0".

      This is the contents of my ArduinoLLCArduinoLeonardo.cfg file:

      input_device = "Arduino LLC Arduino Leonardo"
      input_driver = "udev"
      input_l_btn = "8"
      input_load_state_btn = "8"
      input_start_btn = "6"
      input_exit_emulator_btn = "6"
      input_up_axis = "-1"
      input_a_btn = "1"
      input_b_btn = "2"
      input_reset_btn = "2"
      input_down_axis = "+1"
      input_r_btn = "7"
      input_save_state_btn = "7"
      input_right_axis = "+0"
      input_state_slot_increase_axis = "+0"
      input_x_btn = "3"
      input_menu_toggle_btn = "3"
      input_select_btn = "5"
      input_enable_hotkey_btn = "5"
      input_y_btn = "4"
      input_left_axis = "-0"
      input_state_slot_decrease_axis = "-0"

      Apologies if this has been answered already as I searched and could not find the solution.

          How does retropie assign these label numbers and is there a way to reassign them?

            @HoolyHoo retropie does not assign them. The people who make the controllers/adapters/drivers assign them.
