MAME ROW #3: Lizard Wizard
-
I watched a Kabuki Klash gameplay. It seems to be a mediocre copy of Samurai Shodown.
-
i voted lizard wizard for the exact reason i stated above
-
i'd take a samurai shodown clone over most things! it's actually a pretty good one, having now played it. always nice to learn a new proper fighting game.
lizard wizard seems to be totally meritless. the controls are horrible.
-
Wikipedia suggests that Touchdown Fever used the rotating joysticks previously used in Ikari Warriors, which sadly my setup doesn't support, so for that reason I'm torn between Kabuki Klash and Lizard Wizard.
I'll give them both a quick try before committing myself!
-
I tried out all three of the games last night. Kabuki Klash and Lizard Wizard worked for me in both lr-fba-next & lr-mame2003. Touchdown Fever would play in both as well but the lr-fba-next version was rotated sideways and I'm not sure how to fix that.
I couldn't quite figure out how to play Touchdown Fever and when I finally was able to throw the ball to one of my team mates, it showed an arrow asking me to run the wrong direction and when I ran the direction that I thought was correct, my guy ran extremely slow.

Hard choice? Isn't it?

I'm actually really impressed with Touchdown Fever. I mean, that was released in 1987. Quite a lot going on with that game for something 30 years old.
-
Lizard Wizard is the winner. Here is the result:
-
Lizard Wizard.
Lizard Wizard.
LIZARD WIZARD!
Whoa, sorry about that. Sounded like some sort of crazy cult chant. :)
This should be another fun one. I'm really enjoying this series as it's not only gotten me to figure out how MAME works, but it's also exposing me to games that I've never even heard of.
-
If anyone claims to get past those cheating spiders on level 7 on a single credit, I won't believe them!
-
@GtBFilms LOL! It's really hard, but I get past after a few attempts.
How can I prove it?! I think I'll use the @RetroResolution method here. :-)It's a pitty that the score remains after using more coins to continue...
-
A starting point hi-score: 93800
Played on RetroPie using only one coin.
A tip to get a nice score: the rocks worth 2000 points, but when they are burning worth 2500. The problems are (1) the green dragons like to eat the burning rocks (it means no points for that eaten rock); (2) if you wait too much the blue dragon comes, and it's fast and angry! :-)

This is probably a dumb question, but when is the deadline to post high scores? Is it still by the end of Saturday?

I think that the original @qix77 idea was a weekend tournament. Starting on friday and ending on sunday night. Later we decided to get the random game on monday and play all the week (ending on sunday night). This week we started this voting process, then we dedicate monday tuesday for experimentations and start the real gaming on wednesday (ending sunday night).
BUT I think we realized that it's all just for fun... The current week's game thread is just where there are more people interacting/talking about the game(s). My opinion is: post your hi-score anytime you want on the respective game topic. That's one of the reasons I put the links for the previous rounds. ;-)
BTW: I wanna beat the @lilbud hi-score on Phoenix some day...

I agree. I'm having a lot of fun with this :) Thanks again for organizing.
-
This round will result in no tournament entry for me :(
Sadly I'm on journey :/ -
I got nowhere near @meleu's high score. This game was tough, and wow, those blue dragons are fast.
-
I have no talent for woodworking, so I'm planning to buy this beauty and put my Raspi in it:
I think our weekly gaming will be much more intense when I get it.
If there's a brazilian fellow reading this, here is the site where you can buy it: http://www.giganteguerreiro.com.br/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=110

Woo hoo!
I don't know that I'll get higher, so here's my submission.
-
@obsidianspider did you take the screenshot before the "game over"?!
BTW: nice score! I'll try to beat it this evening :-)
