      Hi,

      I just finished my arcade build (analogue joysticks, buttons in a cabinet with a raspbery pi 3 underneath.

      I have been able to configure all my buttons and have also made the setting to have the d-pad be emulated by the analogue sticks for all emulators. This because I obviously have no d-pad..

      I have downloaded some random roms but am seeing that they do not seem to pick up the analogue sticks, If i attach a keyboard and press the buttons I matched to the d-pad keys then they work.. Is this not supposed to work with all games ? Or am I nog understanding something ?

      Also, in the retropi menu itself the analogue stick is not seen so I cannot navigate in it without having a keyboard attached (which is not something I want to do), where should I set this up ?

        @helm71 Impossible questions, not enough information. Which emulators? libretro or non?

          Thanks very much for your reply, I have solved my rom issues and am now happily playing the old classics on my home build arcade cabinet, this stuff is great !

          I have one remaining issue, all games work with my analogue sticks beiing presented as dpad by retroarch, the emulationstation menu itself however refuses to work with the analogue sticks. I have googled for a long time but have not been able to find a clue.

          Any help is appreciated.

                do you mean it is nt possible ? So everyone with a home built arvade cabinet is using a dpad or something on the side ?

                  @helm71

                  You can map directional keyboard keys to the analog stick using this guide or any other key-mapping software.

                  Edit:

                  So everyone with a home built arvade cabinet is using a dpad or something on the side ?

                  Most home built arcade controls identify as keyboard input to begin with. If you're using one of the newer analog I-PAC encoders, you have the option to flash alternative firmware that will switch to the traditional keyboard input. However, systems that rely on analog control, such as Amiga and N64 will then become an issue.

                    @mediamogul My joysticks indeed present themselves as keyboard keys... I was under the impression that if I change the analogue sticks to work as dpad, that I will then have an issue with the games.. I might have got that wrong, I'll try it out !!

                      Thanks for the help ! It now works. I have also figured out what went wrong.

                      I need to setup my physical buttons with the DPAD controls and then SKIP the controls for the analogue left, then set the analogue sticks to copy the dpad controls..

                      Amazing piece of software this retropie.. It reallt works great now..
