Wii Classic Controller Connected Directly to I2C GPIOs on RP2
-
Hi, Ive got a RP2 and got the image loaded on. I have my controller connected directly to the I2C GPIO pins on my board using alligator clips. White is Ground, Green = SDA, Yellow = SCL, Red = 3.3V. I found that out from here: https://allpinouts.org/pinouts/connectors/videogame/nintendo-wiimote/
I've got the image loaded on the sd card, and I'm at the retro pie WELCOME screen. It says 'NO GAMEPADS DETECTED' and hold a button on device to configure. I've tried holding down every single button on my controller to no avail.
Here are some pics:
If anyone could help me trouble shoot problems and get this controller working that would be a great help.

Isn't the port on the Wii remote for the Wii nunchuck?
Which means that the wiimote i2c port is probably a master and the i2c port on the nunchuck is a slave. And I would guess that i2c port on the rpi is also a master which will not work with the wiimote, master 2 master doesn't work. One master and multiple slaves works. -
the classic controller plugs into the wiimote just like the nunchuk

ok, my bad then.
You might have to check the i2c addresses then.

Well this is what happens when you realize Retropie doesn't yet support direct I2C connections.
Re-attached half of a nunchuck cable, going the Bluetooth route as it seems that's the only way to connect a Wii controller+accessory to Retropie.
