I've noticed this issue with two consoles so far. On Genesis I was playing an RPG and used the in game save feature (not save states), and when going to load my file it could not be found. The same thing just happened after putting 2+ hours into an RPG on the PSX. The files could not be found.

My question is, where is the default location for these game saves to be saved at? Also, where would I need to put them for the systems emulator to actually find the files so I can continue my progress? I am fairly new to RetroPie, so sorry if this is a simple question. I just hope I didn't completely lose my progress.

I read that they should be saved in ROMS/system name, however I don't see the saves using FileZilla, nor do I see them in the console in my Pi, and obviously the game itself is not able to locate them.

Edit: So I feel dumb, but I fixed the issue with the PS1 saves and save states by simply updating the core. Genesis saves still aren't appearing, at least not with the game I tested them with, but I can use save states so that's no issue. Moral of the story, if you have the same issue as me, the fix may be as simple as a core update.
