Pi Model or other hardware: Pi 3B
      Power Supply used:2.5 amp
      RetroPie Version Used : 4.1
Built From: RetroPie image + updates
USB Devices connected: wireless keyboard, Tenda M311MI
Controller used: 8 bitdo FC30 Pro
      Error messages received:
Log found in /dev/shm/runcommand.log (if relevant):
      Guide used: Retropie first install

I'm trying to enable the ability to cycle through shaders, with no shader setup as default yet.

In the Retroarch.cfg file the hotkeys are defined and "video_shader_enable = "true"" is set. I was also going to specify the shader directory in retroarch.cfg and I found that there are two shader directories in my setup for some reason.

All of the .glslp files are in /opt/retropie/configs/all/shaders

and all of the .glsl files are in /opt/retropie/configs/all/shaders/shaders

Is this normal? It doesn't seem right to me.

Nevermind. I think the reason things weren't working is because I was using the keyboard hotkeys m,n to cycle the shaders and the keyboard isn't player 1. As we all know, hotkeys only work on player 1's controller.

@batesman did you set the path in retroarch?

              @batesman

All of the .glslp files are in /opt/retropie/configs/all/shaders
and all of the .glsl files are in /opt/retropie/configs/all/shaders/shaders

this is correct. the shaders themselves are the .glsl files, and the glslp files are presets which load up one or more glsl files with certain parameters. if you load up a glslp file in a text editor it will refer to a glsl file in the /shader/ path.

@dankcushions So is it possible to be able to cycle through the shaders without setting one as a default?

@columboscoat I did. It didn't seem to have any effect so I removed it.

i think so. by default you need to hold your hotkey (select on your control pad) and press n or m on a keyboard, i believe.

You got it. I had to hold select on the control pad, then press m, n to cycle. Based on the way the hotkeys were defined in the retroarch.cfg file I thought I only needed to press m or n.

                    Thanks!
