I got this working on the Pixel desktop but when I switched back to the RetroPie interface the speaker either disconnected or the game slowed down until the Pi crashed.
Even on the Pixel desktop it seemed to crash the system.

Are there any plans to have support for Bluetooth speakers in the future?

@applePie unlikely as it would mean having to build things to use pulseaudio, which is not desirable for most users.

Perhaps it could be optional for retroarch, although I have not tried pulseaudio with bluetooth - if you are having trouble on the desktop, it's likely something we can't fix (related to bluetooth stack etc). RetroPie is just a system to install/configure emulators, we don't interfere much with the basic OS.
