How to get Intellivision to work on 4.1
-
I have looked at these videos on Youtube
Have you read and followed the RetroPie documentation? It could be that you're testing games that require memory map files as noted here.
-
@mediamogul Thanks, I totally misread that. I will let you know if it works!
-
@ThatGuy-UNo you need to give the bios file 775 permissions. They used to go in /opt/retropie/emulators/jzintv/roms/ but i think the retropie 4.2 version of jzintv changed it to /home/pi/RetroPie/BIOS/ so i would try putting them in both locations.

It looks like the new location is noted in the docs. The video he used might have pointed to the older location.
-
@mediamogul i had to change it back because i have to change jzintv to my copy everytime i update because retropie uses a really old version that a few games like the homebrew ms pac-man wont play on. There was a problem in jzintv that didnt correctly emulate something that a real intellivision did.
-
Are you now using the most recent jzintv? If so, how does it run?
-
@mediamogul the version i use, i have had for a long time. The one i use is available on intellivision.us . Not sure of anything that the version that retropie might have changed, but i know that it doesnt play ms. pacman so i dont try anything further.

@mediamogul Hello again. So I got the bios from the video that I posted. I download the game Space Armada and renamed it on the spreadsheet in addition to downloading the right config file and renaming it as well. Here is a picture!!![0_1493675936754_Intellivison.JPG](Uploading 100%) What am I doing wrong?
-
-
It doesn't look like I needed a config file for 'Space Armada'. Can you post it's contents?
-
@mediamogul Feck the Intellivision. ColecoVision is where it's at. Better games, better graphics. Check it out.
-
@mediamogul What contents do you mean? I can't simply send a link where I got the game cause that be breaking the forum rules. What games can I download that will work using the bios files that I got from the 2nd video?
@AlexMurphy Appreciate your enthusiasm on the other side of the fence
-
@ThatGuy-UNo What fence? ColecoVision is better!!!! We can have both. That's why I love emulators. I'm only trying to have a joke.
-
What contents do you mean?
I was referring to the contents of the config file.
What games can I download that will work using the bios files that I got from the 2nd video?
Try something basic like 'Burger Time!' and see if it loads. It shouldn't need a memory map. If it doesn't work, we'll compare the checksum of our BIOS files.
pft... Everyone knows all the best titles came out of GameaVision.
-
@mediamogul Nonsense! All the best games were on the
FUNARAMA-VIDEO-FUN-SUPER-MACHINE
I had them all. And I beat all 756 of the games released. Even the really shitty ones involving Smurfs! -
@AlexMurphy Lol sorry :P just being frustrated with the emulator atm :/
-
@ThatGuy-UNo You own a Pi. Frustration is a thing. I remember when I was about to stamp on it like a horrible cockroach. I was where you were once. Don't lose hope!
-
@mediamogul The contents of the config file where the google doc ones from the wiki
-
I'm re-familiarizing myself with the mappers and if memory serves, mapper 0 loads by default unless otherwise instructed and therefore any game using it doesn't need a config file. That leaves only 30 to be made from a North American set.

You can get the md5 checksum of the BIOS files from the command line by typing:
md5sum /home/pi/RetroPie/BIOS/exec.bin
and
md5sum /home/pi/RetroPie/BIOS/grom.bin
The result of mine are:
62e761035cb657903761800f4437b8af /home/pi/RetroPie/BIOS/exec.bin
0cd5946c6473e42e8e4c2137785e427f /home/pi/RetroPie/BIOS/grom.bin
