@kikinaak In respect to favorites the Kid Friendly version of ES has the ability to set favorites and toggle the game list to only show them. It also has the ability to show only kid friendly games and hide games through certain modes. I would also love to see a genre sort as I really go through moods of what I want to play, I'm really surprised it's not already there actually. I know nothing of coding so forgive me but doesn't the data for the current sort ie rating and so on come from the gamelist.xml?

I support this idea, especially for mame games and others that use different controls even on the same system, such as the N64 that had multiple ways to hold the controller. A quick splash screen before a game is loaded, waiting for a button press, would be a simple and versatile thing. Such an image could show the controls, some artwork, the intro story from a manual, a cheat code or two, let your imagination run wild.

@Drakaen391 Exactly, that is how I always did it. I also use this method to edit the .cfg files.

I looked into this concept some, but had a couple problems. The way that I tried, was a usb device selector in usbromservice.sh that would throw a couple short scripts with the device UUID into /etc/usbmount/mount.d and /etc/usbmount/umount.d/. So any time the usb device with the matching UUID was plugged in it would be mount --bind to the roms directory. It worked alright for vfat, but ntfs gave me problems.

Since it's filesystem stuff, there's a lot of ways to accomplish it. It seems like if it's done in the right way it could be useful. But I think it could potentially cause a lot of problems for users. I also think that a solution with options to not only have sd or usb, but both in emulationstation, would really be the ideal. Another thing to consider is whether or not the scraper will work properly.

One of my thoughts was a script that would generate a modified version(to override, but not overwrite) of es_systems.cfg with the paths changed and potentially the entries duplicated. So you could have the SD card directory for NES and a USB directory for NES both showing up in emulationstation, or one or the other.

UPDATE: got an alpha level script written... It's very messy but will make a new thread looking for testers once I get a successful run on the pi itself (runs on Ubuntu)

If you want it to load on the fly, then it won't work at all due to emulationstation...

Better idea would be to use a USB and change it before turning on the Pi

There is a Plus4 emulator already installed.

/opt/retropie/emulators/vice/bin/xplus4

You can add it to the es_systems.cfg as a different system, or just put the roms along side your 64 games and add another line to the emulators.cfg under /opt/retropie/configs/c64/

i.e.

vice-plus4="/opt/retropie/emulators/vice/bin/xplus4 %ROM%"

And when you launch, press a key before it launches and select the emulator for that rom. After you do that once, it's saved for that game.

is the tutorial I used to get it working. It's in zerojays retropie-extra repository. Still having a few ps3 controller issues with it, but I seem to be one of the few so it should work fine.

Yes i thought only about legal option where customer will pay for game but of course all depend from prices :)
