    Surely it's possible - even automatic. If the Zelda games got a battery RAM for saving then an advanced user can compare the savegames and on a specific value (experience level, item....) a script can be executed to rename Zelda 2.nes.bak > Zelda 2.nes

    On next boot the next Zelda game is displayed via automated script. But hell... speak with your son and tell him it's time to play the second part :)

    Really a nice idea but very hard to realise. Impossible? No!
    Why? It's a hard job to detect the values needed. We are not talking about simple XML-file editing. You need some cracker skills. Simpelst way it to compare 2 files with different experience status (in Zelda for ex.) and then change the values manuelly. Perhaps this works.... If Nintendo is a badass then there are checksums and voila - you need real cracker skills ;)

    OK, helps to know it won't work in 1080p.. I wish that it was more prominent when you went to download themes for ES that it told you if you needed to increase the split or that it simply won't work over 720p. I think that a text warning when you go to install those themes would be simple, appropriate and prevent others from making my mistake.

    I edited /boot/config.txt and uncommented HDMI lines as follows, leaving the group alone but changing mode to 4 which corresponds to 720p

    hdmi_group=1
    hdmi_mode=4

    When combined with 384M split this allows the system to boot and work well using tronkyfran, with only a little bit of the sense that the images are being scaled. So, I definitely appreciate the help! Hope this helps anyone else who falls into this rathole.

    I appreciate the feedback. I decided to go with...ALL OF THEM!

    lol

    I have a black on white version of my logo that I liked and when I realized you can randomize what splashscreens play on boot, I just dumped 4-5 vids in and will roll with that setup.

    @Concat i havent had any issues and ive had it running for up to 20 hours. This was my first pi mod. I started with a b+, the a pi 2, and now im on a pi 3. I am planning on making small holes in the back bottom piece for some ventilation.

    @mediamogul Thanks! But....I can't claim the idea. When researching the build, I saw a few with it on and it was an instant must have for controllers. The problem was finding one. You have to google dashboard usb mount in your searches. It took a month to find!

    @moosepr I covered the inside with electrical tape and hot glued most of the components so nothing is touching metal. I have not had one problem (knocks on wood) lol. I did short out a pi zero building this, but it wasn't the cases fault I just wasn't paying attention with my wiring and wired up the power source wrong on a proto board I used. Always double check wiring before you give power to something. =]

    I should clarify, its not just about different arcade games, while i do plan to build a cabinet, and hopefully a bunch of controller ports in to it, its not just arcade games, it would be games from any system
