Shader and ratio configuration issues
-
SBC: odroid xu4
Retro pie version: 4.3I have issues with the ratio and shader configuration.
I follow step by step the retro pie documentation for the installation on my xu4 and to configure the shader.
The strange thing is that some shader works and some other not. When i select crt-pi.glsl (the shader that i want) it doesn't work but it works with dotmask.glsl as an exemple. It's the same thing with the ratio configuration: it works when i put in 16:9 but not with 4:3.

@floxblah what do you mean "doesn't work well" - can you give details?
It's the same thing with the ratio configuration: it works when i put in 16:9 but not with 4:3.
where are you configuring it?
you really should fill out https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first - knowing the emulator/game/etc are all very important.

I configure the aspect ratio and the shader via the configuration editor as explained in the offical retropie doc..
I apply the changes to all libretro emulators.
As i said in my first post:
For the ratio: if i select 16:9 it apply correctly the change but of i select 4:3 it doesn't apply in any emulator.
It's the same thing for the shader:
Always with the configuration editor, i set video shader enabled to true. then i choose the video shader file, in my case: opt/ retropie/emulators/retroarch/shader/crt-pi.glslp.
It doesn't work with this shader in any emulator but it works with an other shader as an exemple:
/opt/ retropie/emulators/retroarch/shader/snes.glslp -
@floxblah don't say 'any emulator'. give me an example. give me an example game. if it's not doing 4:3 what is it doing?
crt-pi shader may not work on XU4 - it was coded for a raspberry pi, after all. it's probably to do with the fp precision - i think libretro have a more compatible version: https://github.com/libretro/glsl-shaders/blob/master/crt/shaders/crt-pi.glsl

I use lr-fceumm emulator with duck tales (europe version). If i set 16:9 it will apply the 16:9 ratio and if i set 4:3 i have the game default ratio value (like the ratio value is unset).
Ok i will try the libretro shaders

ok but the default ratio will be 4:3 on almost all old games. some PAL (europe) versions will have borders but that won't be solved by changing your aspect ratio - they would have had borders on 4:3 tvs also.
fceumm will have options to change how it displays borders perhaps - select + X to get to the retroarch menu, then quick menu > core options. it will be the overscan options.
