How do I change NES color palette?

So I found this thread. But I don't understand how to download the palettes. What files they should be and where to put them. Is there a "easier" way to change palettes then to open the retroarch-core-options.cfg file?

Is it possible to change palettes for Snes as well?

Pi: Raspberry pi3
OS: Retropie 4.4 (downloaded from Retropie)
Emulators: Nes (lr-nestopia). Snes?

@lesk open the RGUI and use the Options menu to choose the palette, then you can save it in the Core options from the RGUI.

Do I do that in game? Will it change palettes for all Nes/Snes games? :)

Yes, invoke the menu in-game with 'hotkey+x'.

The palette options are core-specific, so your choice will only be applied to the core you're currently using.

The most commonly used palette selections are already included. However, you can add other .pal files to /home/pi/RetroPie/BIOS/palettes/. The 'sony-cxa2025as-us', or 'cxa2025as' are generally considered to be the most accurate representation of NTSC monitors. Unfortunately, I've never heard mention of a PAL equivalent.

Newbie question, but what is a "core"? Is that the emulator or game? If game, is it possible to select a default palette for all NES games?
Can I do that for SNES also?

Okay thank you! I saw a post for a website with a lot of palettes. I wanted to try the Mini nes palette.

A 'core' is an emulator supported by RetroArch, which is a front-end for various emulators ('cores') - http://www.retroarch.com/

Yes, just open the RetroArch GUI (RGUI), go to Options, choose your palette, then save the options for that core. Any game started with that emulator will use the option (palette) in the future. See the options for the most used NES emulators/cores distributed with RetroPie

I don't think that for SNES emulators such a think exists. What are you actually interested in ?

Make the colors more like the real Snes. But maybe I´ll just use a CRT filter of some sort instead :)
