Ps3 controller Bluetooth driver Retropie setup freeze

Raspberry pi 4 2gb standard 5.1V 3A power supplt
Wifi network
Ps3 controllersHello everyone, I've searched the forum for the issue, couldn't find anything.
When I try to install the drivers for ps3 controller, I enter retropie setup/manage packages /drivers... /Bluetooth ps3controller I press enter, after that it freezes (and I have waited for 5 mins) , I cannot exit, cannot cancel-nothing, if I press any key it just shows down under the setup window as a new line. Any thoughts? -
@KuciKuc Please add more info about your system, as detailed in https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first.
Is your Pi connected to the internet ? The driver needs to be downloaded before it's installed. -
@mitu hello,
Hardware is Raspberry Pi 4 2gb model,
5.1V 3A power supply Xellite brand
Retropie version 4.6
Loaded on SD card 32gb
Wifi connection 300Mbps speed
I have connected Bluetooth keyboard with dedicated keyboard USB Bluetooth dongle
Ps3 controller and USB cable
Followed etaprime tutorial for connecting controller -
You haven't specified if your PI is connected to the internet or how you installed RetroPie.
Your first option for using a PS3 controller should be the
sixaxis
driver. Documentation for how to configure and pair a PS3 controller is at https://retropie.org.uk/docs/PS3-Controller/, it's the first search result when looking for RetroPie and PS3 controllers.In general, I advise you to avoid Youtube guides, they tend to be outdated and most of them are just repeating the information from the Docs.

@mitu dear Mitu, sorry but it looks like we're having a bit of misunderstanding between us. In both comments I've written wifi (considering that that would be self explanatory that I'm connected to the wifi network). Next, I've used windows 10 to format SD card to fat32, then used balena etcher program to flash the SD with the retropie 4.6. The emulator is working completely fine with the Bluetooth keyboard and ps3 controller (connected via USB), the only issue I'm having is the one I've described in the opening comment.
I did use the instructions for installing the driver--both sixaxis and ps3 controller, all of the instructions are giving the same steps untill I hit the freeze issue (please refer to the original post) ...
I hope this is detailed enough. -
@mitu from the guide you attached I reach step 3 and after pressing enter for the sixaxis I never get to the next step which is install from source, again after pressing enter on sixaxis nothing....
-
@KuciKuc Should be detailed enough, it's just that for me 'connected to Wifi' doesn't automatically mean 'has internet access' - so can you confirm that your Pi has working internet access ? Can you succesfully update your RetroPie-Setup ?
The installation from RetroPie-Setup should produce a log file in
/home/pi/RetroPie-Setup/logs
, can you take the file, unzip-it, and upload it to pastebin.com ? You may need to enable SSH and use WinSCP to dowload the log file. -
@mitu OK thanks
